First Trump casualty

Featured Replies

A GOP incumbent loses to another GOP incumbent due to redistricting, due more to that than the endorsements of anyone. 63% of the voters in the ‘New 2nd District’ were people George Holding had represented for four years and 13% were people Congresswoman Ellmers had represented during the same time.

When the poll was done it showed that, in the 63% of the District George had represented for four years, he led Ellmers by over 20 points. Conversely, in the 13% of the District Ellmers had represented she led by a similar margin.

Holding won with 53% of the vote.

Not sure this can or can't be blamed on Trump.

She was late to Trump train. And...she was the top RINO in NC. Pro-Amnesty.

No surprise she goes down.

Trump related? Spin, spin, spin.

Slightly disingenuous, more likely a victim of redistricting.

Slightly???

Let him go, he's on a roll.

Logically, you guys are correct, but that headline burns bright: Trump's first congressional endorsement goes down.

You mean your thread headline that you posted misleadingly? The headline on your link doesn't mention Trump.

The story byline says Trump endorsement doesn't save her...that sounds like she was a lost cause to begin with.

Well I know the Blaze is in the Never Trump Camp, not sure about the rest. She was polling so far behind before the late endorsement, she had little chance to win. As I posted earlier, before any endorsement she was basically 20 points down.

Trump supported her because she was the first woman in Congress to support him according to one of your links.

She lost this 100% because of redistricting. But you go ahead and enjoy yourself today trying to make this into something that it probably isn't.

There will still be a Republican in Congress from that District when it's all said and done in Novemeber.
