Tropical Storm Colin.

Featured Replies

It's been almost 11 years since the last hurricane hit Florida, Wilma, and Colin has the newbies all attacking the grocery stores. Wonder if they'll sell out of Pop Tarts. :)

I hope this blows by. My generator is on the fritz.

The tropical storm warning is from Indian Pass, just east of Panama City, to Englewood, almost exactly between Sarasota and Ft. Meyers, near Port Charlotte. The 7 PM advisory showed the 5 day forecast more northern than the one at 4 PM.

We're getting some squall style rain, right now, and are expected to get 4-6 inches before midnight tonight. The high today, is still supposed to get into the low 80s and the low tonight is expected in to be in the mid 70s. That's not out of the ordinary for this month, though the daytime temps have been getting into the upper 90's recently.

Tomorrow looks like the normal summer pattern, T-Storms sometime during the day and sauna conditions the rest of the time. :D

Stay safe down there. Hoping to spend my vacation in KS, post tornado season.

How's it going down the Rat. Weather channel showing a bunch of water in St Pete.

You and MrsS stay safe.

You and MrsS stay safe.

Just a lot of heavy rain and some wind.

TIA indicates around 4 inches today. I have a 5 inch rain gauge and when I got home from work, it was flowing over. I just checked it an we've gotten another half inch in the last hour. The National Weather Service has been reporting that winds have been steady around 30 mph most of the afternoon, with gusts over around 50. After work, I was filling up my Buick in the dry. A gust came through I got soaked to the skin, just that fast. Such is how heavy the rain is an how strong the gusts are. It felt great!!!

Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Citrus, Hernando, Polk, Manatee, and Sarasota counties all sent the kiddies home from school before lunch.

It's nasty out there, but I've seen worse.

We had some trees go down on the street where I work in Oldmar, probably due to wind. There has been flooding on Bay Shore in Tampa, in Gulfport, and in Kenneth City. (Shore Acres is underwater, but that is not unusual. :) ) However, there is picture on the Bay News 9 web site of flooding in Madeira Beach and coastal flooding is expected overnight. That might be a concern for you.

The following is from the Bay New 9 web site ...

Among the high tides being watched closely are in St. Pete, Anna Maria, Davis Island, Pass-a-Grille, Clearwater Beach, Aripeka, New Port Richey and Crystal River.

The high tides for overnight:

Anna Maria: 3:30 a.m.

St. Pete: 6 a.m.

Davis Island: 6:03 a.m.

Pass-a-Grille: 4:26 a.m.

Clearwater Beach: 2:48 a.m.

New Port Richey: 3:43 a.m.

Aripeka: 4:04 a.m.

Crystal River: 4:48 a.m.

Off topic but why do all these weather maps draw penises on them?

Pass-a-Grille is us.

My son said Gulf Blvd was under water from The Don to 21st Street. Couldn't get though from 10-4 or so.

It's still raining steadily. I just got a flash flood warning on my phone. NWS say is it's on until 9 AM. The wind has died off some though.

I am in Cape san blas. Sunday morning was a wash but rest of day was nice. Yesterday was a total rainout. Sun out this morning. Open is hi and waves are big for gulf side. The kids love our private pool more than the beach so we are good.
