May 30, 201610 yr UofL w/ the #2 overall seed behind FL. Suggests the old adage that you can help your cause in conference tournaments (see Clemson getting all the way up to a National Seed) but can't really hurt you (see FL, Miami & UofL) that much is true. UK not making the tournament is a surprise. The only SEC teams to make it were the 7 that were Regional Seeds (top 16), 4 of which were national seeds. ACC got 10 teams including 3 national seeds and 3 more Regional Seeds. UNC left out with a 19 RPI. Obviously hurt not making the ACC tourney.
May 30, 201610 yr UK not making it was not a surprise as they just didn't do enough and played way too poorly for most of the latter half of the season despite a good start from the first few series of SEC play.

I may be wrong, and I have been once....twice, but doesn't this seem to be the norm with UK baseball the last few years?
May 30, 201610 yr I may be wrong, and I have been once....twice, but doesn't this seem to be the norm with UK baseball the last few years? Yes each and every year. Most years our OOC schedule is very light with not a lot of great competition. We start off well in the SEC schedule for the series or two and then we get figured out and we just bottom out the rest of the way. It's very, very aggravating to keep doing the same thing each and every year.
May 31, 201610 yr Oh the Louisville and Vanderbilt regions match up in the Super Regional? This is my surprised face. *not surprised*
May 31, 201610 yr Xavier heads to Nashville for the second time in three years. Two Big East titles in three years in the league. I realize it's not elite baseball, but it's something to build on. Go X!
