The Mr. Football candidates

Featured Replies

Kasey Clark, being at Russell will not touch the ball enough to be given a chance at numbers. I can remember when Gross was running the ball. He only played 2 quarters of football a game except the Belfry game and then he had 200 yards rushing. Lewis Co. game he touched the ball 5 times scored 4. Clark will be in the same boat this year. Ivan does not run the score up on opponents and he will only let Kasey carry the ball enough to win. I am a diehard Devils fan, but smart enough to realize the possiblity of Kasey being Mr. Football. He has to stay in the game more than 1-2 quarters and Ivan will have to let him do what he does best- PLAY FOOTBALL.

I hope that Ivan will let him run wild.

This is ever so true. That is why I consider YPC as the most useful stat when trying to evaluate a running back..... And Kasey is right up there with the best of them. His sophomore season he ranked in the top ten of KY's all-time YPC leaders.

Not very many soph get 1000 yards a season at Russell or average 11 yards a carry. Top ten in the state as a soph on average per carry.

[ If Owens breaks loose for 200 yards against Sheldon Clark and Clay County it will be much more impressive than his performance against Jenkins, especially if he leads his team to wins.

Last season Bobby had 212 against Sheldon Clark and 384 against Clay County. His season low last year was 161 against Middlesboro and he only played the first half due to injury.

I'm really glad the Slusher kid has had Auburn look at him, I hope he gets offered a scholarship. I love to see KY kids go to the next level, no matter what school they attend. It's good for KY football. I never said anything negative about the kid, nor will I ever.

Not only have they looked at him and offered him a scholarship, he is committed to them. As far as offers go........Tennessee, South Carolina, and quite a few more.

Have you seen Kasey Clark play?

Yes, three times and I think he is a great football player, but I stand by my Top 7.

I think Clark is a tough, hard-nosed kid, and an all-around great football player. Personally, from the times I've seen him play I think he is better on D than he is on O. That is not a knock on his running, but more of a compliment on his D.

Besides who could argue with his productivity from either side?

He's had many letters and invitation for visits from numerous schools. An SEC and a Big Ten school are recruiting him intensely with several other schools also.

I could not remember where I heard it from but was thinking it was so...

Jim mullins should be added to the list from Harrison Co

I can appreciate the enthusiasm...but you're dreaming. Yes..he's a solid athlete...and showed some real athleticism against Boyle.....but this is essentially his first year playing football at the HS level I do believe.

Granted he has alot of potential...more than he does as a basketball player...It's a shame he hasn't played all 4 years.

IMO, If Mullins has a big year...he should consider a Prep School for a year...get a lot stronger..more polished...and then work towards a scholarship somewhere.
