May 16, 201610 yr ...just waiting on my flight to Kansas city. Kinda bored, long layover. Gonna get a good steak or BBQ tonight though, not sure which. Suggestions?
May 16, 201610 yr I know it's against the grain but one of the best steaks I ever ate was in KC. A little long narrow steakhouse down town...trying to remember the name. If I can think of the name I'll post it in a little while.
May 16, 201610 yr Kansas City was known for great steaks long before BBQ, right? Is that place on this list, @Jumper_Dad? 17 Kansas City Steaks That Everyone Should Experience Before They Die
May 16, 201610 yr Kansas City was known for great steaks long before BBQ, right? Is that place on this list, @Jumper_Dad? 17 Kansas City Steaks That Everyone Should Experience Before They Die Thanks, Yes it was. I couldn't remember the name until I saw it...The Hereford House is the one.
May 16, 201610 yr Thanks, Yes it was. I couldn't remember the name until I saw it...The Hereford House is the one. I've been to the Hereford House as well. Loved it. Off the top of my head, I think the Pine Club in Dayton might be the only one I've liked better, but I'm biased. Definitely check the Hereford House for KC steak.
May 16, 201610 yr Thanks, Yes it was. I couldn't remember the name until I saw it...The Hereford House is the one.So I took a look at the menu, because, well, steak. LOL I'll have the following: To start with an order of HH Sea Hogs Salad with 1,000 Island dressing 12 oz Ribeye, medium with black pepper and bleu cheese crumbles Baked potato with butter and sour cream Vanilla cheesecake for desert Then a place to nap
May 16, 201610 yr I was there with a bunch of coworkers. While we were there, a table full of our companies high level executives came in and sat down on the other side of the restaurant. We thought we'd kinda enjoy our meal and not have any interaction with them. As we were about to leave, my boss and best buddy there was going to pay for everyone's meal...after he paid he realized the Execs that acted like they didn't see us, many of whom had worked for my boss on their way up, had their bill sent to him. He ended up paying for theirs before he even knew he was doing so...:lol2: He said it was a small price to pay because we were left alone and could do just about anything we wanted to, day in and day out with out a lot of tampering from the Home Office.
May 17, 201610 yr Author So I ate at Pierpont, very nice restraunt in Union Station which is right across the street. Freaking delecious, and was on the listb posteb above. 10 oz coffee and ancho rubbed KC strip. Deleciious. Got the 4 course sampler...started with white wine sauted mussells, then crab bisque (yummo), the steak with some sort of succatash that was very good, then bread pudding to finish it off. $45, really not a bad deal for everything you get. I was very happy with it, and the old Union Station is really cool too.
