In the case of the state's largest newspapers, I think it's all on the coaches who bother to submit their votes.

 

For the AP, it's all on the the representatives of the state's media outlets that subscribe to the Associated Press' service. A very limited electorate which is terribly isolated to the state's largest population centers.

Nope, because the Ky Post was stupid for not going NKY-only decades ago. Northern Ky has some 300K people and deserves its own news service, and the Ky Post would still be in business if it recognized this 25 years ago (or whenever it was that they entered into that stupid joint operating agreement with the Enquirer to share advertising, which caused its eventual downfall). The area has for far too long depended on Cincinnati — which looks down its nose at Ky — to deliver the news and sports that matters to NKY. I'm from NKY, grew up reading the Ky Post, so this isn't some outsider saying this, so spare me the silly, provincial backlash that I'm sure some of you are dying to levy against me.

 

This dilemma plays a big role in why it bothers me so much that NKY people tend to look down their noses at the rest of Kentucky. Like that makes you look better in Cincinnatians' eyes.

Well, technically there are several. All the Cincy TV stations and several radio stations, as well as the Enquirer, subscribe to the AP service and are eligible to vote. They just don't bother to.

Again I could be incorrect but I thought there was a thread on here last year saying you had to be an AP member in the state of KY to vote.

Not if Ky is in your coverage area. I recall in the past seeing Huntington-area TV stations listed in the AP voter list. Evansville as well.
