Corbin 2016

Featured Replies

What does Corbin need to do to improve in 2016? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Corbin should be very good, they return a ton of players on both sides of the ball. The Redhounds will be the prohibitive favorite to win their region again and everyone will have them and Belfry penciled in for the semifinals.

They matched up better with Belfry than any other playoff team last season and they should have an excellent shot at beating the Pirates this year, especially considering that game would be played in Corbin if it happens.

If several of those Belfry linemen decide to leave and start college a year early, then Corbin might have an excellent shot at beating the Pirates.:lol2: Otherwise, the Redhounds may have a shot, but I would call it more of a long shot at this point.

Don't sand bag, 4chs, LOL.

That Corbin team matches up pretty well up front and they have been the only team to really push Belfry's defense around in the playoffs the last few years.

Belfry's rushing defense has been pretty stout in the playoffs except against Corbin. Over the course of the past 3 years, last year's Corbin team by far had the most rushing success against the Pirates in their 15 playoff games. In those games, teams have averaged 88.9 rushing yards per game against Belfry, but Corbin had 182 rushing in last years game.

That allowed them to use up more time, keep Belfry's defense on the field, and basically use Belfry's own style against them. With another year's experience, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the next one come down to the wire.

Watusi the O-line and D-line may be the biggest question marks for Corbin going into this season.

Corbin will have 3 new starters on the D-line, and although they return most of the offensive line I would think only 2 of the 5 spots are locked up on the O-line. A lot to be determined over the next 16 weeks.

The defensive line is really the only place that Corbin took a hit due to graduation, believe they lost 3 DL starters along with 1 one other defensive starter.

Unless I'm mistaken, the OL should be improved after losing only 1 starter, which I believe was the only Sr. starter on the offense at the end of the season. The 2 sophomores that started on the line look as though they have worked hard in the weight room and should be much better this coming season.

Easily a Pre-Season Top 5 team and IMHO the Pre-Season #2

The D line was the only big hit from graduation. However, the offensive line struggled at times last year and as I said is probably the biggest question mark. There were 3 Juniors and 2 sophomores starting on the line at the end of the season. The senior was injured early and missed the majority of the season. The young guys have definitely been working hard, however there are a lot of guys that can compete for some of those spots. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we had a new face or two starting on the line even though we return the starters from last year. With the numbers there should be several kids that push returning starters for PT at several positions.
