Bowling Green 37 Owensboro Catholic 0 Scrimmage

Featured Replies

Very surprised at this score! The Purples held the Aces to 0 yards rushing and 12 yards passing and scored another safety. Senior RB Anthony Davis scored twice, on a 35 yd pass play from junior D.L. Moore and on a 44 yd run. Moore also scored on a 53 yd run. Very encouraging!

Yes, that's the same D.L. Moore who is supposed to be a WR. Junior QB Trent Steelman will not be available for the game, and neither will Senior C Aric Johnson. The rest of the team looks fine.

Again, I couldn't make it to the scrimmage, but playing Moore at QB seems to be very promising! There weren't any individual stats available, but judging from the scoring plays, Moore seems to have the penchant for the big play, and that's what the Veer offense thrives on. I can't wait to see how this will work out come Saturday! As for the defense, it looks as if it hasn't skipped a beat from last season. Yes, I know that Apollo and Owensboro Catholic aren't St X, but Anderson, Finch, and Co. will still need to bring their "A" game to the fray! I still think that it'll be a great game like last year's game!:thumb: :D

Catholic never does well in scrimmages....but that score is somewhat ridiculous.

I don't know about you but when the varsity was in there it was 23-0. I saw a BG team struggling to score on a average defense in 4 quarters. Yes BG's freshmen and JV scored on Catholic's JV and Freshmen in a 10 play deal, but the verdict is still out on both teams. I will be surprised if BG beats St.X, Catholic has along way to go too, but in the past they never do good in scrimmages so hopefully history repeats itself.

Green Nation, you need to get a calculator out. BGHS scored touchdowns on five of six drives, missing a 62-yd field goal at the end of the first half for the only non-scoring drive in that stretch. There were 37 points scored before the 10's played by the JV and then FR. I would agree with you assesement that the BGHS offense was not high octane and will likely struggle against the difficult competition ahead.

Wow really expected Owensboro to be much more comptetive than that well maybe it was just an off day. Well keep practicing Owensboro hopefully get to see you in about 16 weeks roughly.

I want to feel like this OCath team just had a bad day, but I think they are really gonna struggle early on. Possibly losing there first 3 games. I know Bowling Green is a higher class and also a very good team, but OCath isn't quite the team they have been in the recent past. This isn't a knock on them, because its hard to sustain the type of success OCath has had. Luckily for OCath the region is down this year and they can make a run at semi-state again this year. Again, expect early struggles from OCath, but, as usual, they will play much better by the end of the year.

Chris Johnson is a senior, as is Anthony Davis, who scored the 2nd and 5th TDs. Chase Carpenter is a senior as well, and he scored the 4th TD. Moore is a junior, and he scored the 3rd TD and threw the pass that resulted in the 2nd score. The final score of the varsity was credited as a team safety. I am sitting here looking at the varsity only box score.

We don't play seniors on the JV level. Perhaps you were a little distracted.;)

I wouldn't call 23-0 much of struggle on BG's side.
