2016 Schedule has only two changes from 2015. The new staff at Manual did not want to continue to scrimmage, resulting in the Station Camp scrimmage. The Rafferty's Bowl opponent switches to John Hardin.

2016 looks to be a season somehow still filled with very high expectations. As noted during this off season the only offensive concern is to fill a couple of spots on the O-line. For you that may not know, the upcoming Freshman offensive line may be the best BG has seen as a total unit in several years. As far as the skill positions go, forget about it. No one will be able to stop Jamele Caruthers (who has a slight chance of becoming the alltime scoring leader for the Purples). He chould have possibly a record breaking year as running back for the Purples. Depending on how Coach Wallace decides to use the most highly ranked incoming freshman in Purples history, Devito Tisdale, this frosh phenom will instantly contribute on any side of the ball (my guess is little Vito will be used as a Safety or defensive back as well as being the man to return kicks and receive punts). For you that don't know, little Vito was recognized by the Youth Football All American as a top 5 finalist in America for middle school football players. If the coaches allow Vito on the field (which I think they will) he will be an instant playmaker. Throw in possibly the best athlete on the team, Deangelo Wilson as a wide out and the heady QB, Clark Payne that makes minimal mistakes this could be the best offensive unit sine Fant/Hayes senior season.

 

Defensively, the Purples coaching staff always pulls together a great unit. Coach Spader son should step in as a freshman and contribute right away. Tyler Stahl and his leadership will cover the field well against the pass.

 

Lee Ramsey, Purples kicker should put 9 out of 10 balls in the end zone on every kickoff. Majority of opponents possessions will need to travel 80 yards to score against BG.

 

Some may not like this statement, but the Purples really only need to be on their "A" game against Christian, X and the Red Devils during regular season. I truly believe Purples average 45 this upcoming season and has a real chance to run the table.

 

Any vets of this site may remember me saying that after Team Nacarius graduated that you had 2 years to beat the Purples. 3 teams were successful doing that during those two seasons. I feel the Purples begin (continue) another run come August. While I'm making enemies with statements like that, ill go ahead and say that I wish South Warren would have agreed to the scrimmage this August. Oh well.

I don't think that Offense can be stopped. Cannot state how impressed I was with Clark Payne last season. He's only going to get better too.

With the way the Purples have built their program, and the promising look of their returning players they should do very well. The only major threat I see on the schedule is St. X, with Owensboro (and maybe McCracken) being capable of threatening but not likely.

 

Bowling Green would definitely be my #1 pre-season team in 5A.
