Kentucky is as of now in a Marginal Risk area for strong to severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon into the early evening. The main threat looks to be damaging winds and hail. I'll update as we get closer.

 

I walked my dog a few minutes ago and the wind was gusting quite a bit. Was planning on playing some golf today but may have to change those plans. I can't stand to play on really windy days. It's a good thing I don't live in Scotland or England because as windy as it is in those places I would have never taken up golf. I score bad enough in normal conditions.

Hang on to your hats folks. NOAA Weather office in Wilmington OH reported 50 MPH winds at 1000 feet an hour ago.

Here are a couple of model maps showing the possible storms on Tuesday. First the NAM model at the very end of its run 60 hrs ahead. It shows the storms going strong at around 7 pm EST Tuesday night.

Remember we are still almost 3 days away and the timing quite probably will change. I'll post updates as the info comes in.

Monday Morning update:

 

As of this morning it seems that the severe weather threat for Tuesday has grown. The entire state of Kentucky is now in a slight risk area for severe storms. The timing of these storms for now is Tuesday during the day into Tuesday night. The main threats look to be damaging wind gusts and maybe an isolated tornado or two in the stronger storms. There also appears to be a risk of severe hail.

 

I'll update later today. Everyone should stay weather aware for Tuesday.

Tuesday morning update:

 

The threat of severe weather for most of Kentucky is still with us for today. The storms look to start in WKY some time this morning. For now it looks like around 7 am ET. The line of storms could be passing through The I-65 corridor to the I-75 corridor from around noon to 4 pm ET. Then SEKY after 4 pm. The main threats as of this morning look to be damaging winds and a isolate tornado. Also hail could be possible in the stronger storms.

 

I'll post as I can through out the day. Stay weather aware for later today.
