Behold, Boone Co. Schools feasting upon the once proud and now divvied up Rebels.

This may be the most accurate post in the history of this site.

I would love to see Boone get that program back on track.

As has been stated many times before, there is almost nothing Boone can do to fix their program in terms of actually being good. However, they could win more games by getting creative with scheduling (assuming they have the money / desire for long bus rides). Gotta schedule some bad 4a / 3a teams. With their past 3 seasons, that should be doable.

Why is the program a lost cause?

It's all about way the county has grown and the district lines are drawn. The last bit of talent Boone had was sucked dry when Cooper opened. Now it's basically a Florence school.

I went to an awards banquet last night at Boone County. While there is certainly a lot to be excited about from a diversity/academic standpoint at Boone (they quoted over 5 million dollars in scholarships given out to the current senior class) athletically speaking that group couldn't beat their way out of a wet paper bag.

 

There one was one stud, Dylon Bishop, that walked up and received an award. There was also one pretty studly looking baseball player that got an award and a couple of young ladies that can ball but beyond that there was zero or simply put, no athletic talent when it comes to football.

 

Boone really dropped the ball when they didn't take the KHSAA's offer to move down to 5A. That was a huge mistake. Additionally, I think Boone should petition the KHSAA for some type of a hardship waiver, not compete for a district title, and schedule teams like Beechwood and Lloyd until they can get the football program back on the right track.

A few of them qualified for this weekend's state track meet and if they perform like they are seeded they could place at the state level. Football athletes are built different than track and soccer athletes, for instance, but that doesn't mean they aren't athletes unless they're built like a linebacker.
