In the night-cap from BB&T Arena, the Breds were never behind in this one and win in convincing fashion. NewCath was once again without the services of star point guard, Brennen Hall, who is still out with a concussion....although he did participate in pre-game warm-ups. NewCath was also without starting guard, Brian Anderson, who was out sick.

Ben Weyer, who missed the 1st 3 days of school this week because of the "bug" going around, showed no sign of being ill as he dropped 23 pts. to go along with double digit rebs. and 3 blocked shots.

NewCath shot much better from the outside tonight at BB&T Arena compared to the CovCath debacle last month, as Luke Moeves was on fire in the 1st half draining 3 from distance, and a 4th that circled the rim a good half dozen times before falling to the wayside.

Eric Anderson and Austin Neff with a solid job on defense, and on the offensive side as well. As both combine for 16 pts. and 8/8 from the FT line.

The Dawgs struggled during the 1st half, but in the 3rd quarter made a nice run as Markel McClendon would hit 3 triples, on his way to 11 3rd quarter points. However, the Dawgs would get no closer than the 10 point margin at the close of the 3rd.

NewCath has got to limit the silly turnovers, simply too many tonight, and hit the short gimmes (quite a few missed). Overall, very nice win for the boys from up on the "hill", considering how many have been out sick the past week and a half.

Holmes needs to start playing some younger kids these last few games to get some Varsity experience. Losing McClendon is going to be a big loss after this year.

Sophomore and freshman classes are pretty solid.

I could see them struggling some next year but the following year they should be back to being one of the top teams in the region.

Hard not to think what they could have been this year had the 8th grade state championship team stayed together. You add Steffan Green and Marcus Mullins to this year's team and they aren't losing too many games, IMO.

When last I checked, Steffan was averaging 20+ ppg for UC-Clermont.

Yup. Would easily be one of the top 5 players in the region this year and maybe Holmes best all around player.

UC-Clermont is a regional campus of the University of Cincinnati in Batavia. Their basketball team's mascot are the "Cougars" and they are a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

Wheelhouse was pointing out that Steffan Green plays there as a Freshman. Looking at their roster, so does Holmes' grad Roderick Avery.

So if Green is playing at UC Clermont, how could he still be playing at Holmes? Did he graduate early? Where did he finish high school?

Graduated early last year from Newport a few months after turning 17. Would be a young senior this year.

Didn't play last year. Simply went to school and that was it. Worked out on the side to get ready for college ball.

Thanks. Interesting situation here, if I'm following along.

Kid leaves Holmes, goes to Newport. Works to graduate a year ahead of his class. Does not play his senior year (would have been junior year) in high school. But, he works out on the side knowing he's going to play in college.

Someone get Paul Harvey on the phone real quick. I'd love to hear the rest of the....
