The Heat and This Week's Scrimmages

Featured Replies

I don't know about the rest of the state; but we're in a heat emergency up here for the next few days. The 100+ heat index isn't expected to break until at least Wednesday or maybe Thursday. And the above normal temperatures may be around well into next week.

Do you think this heat wave will scratch any of Friday or Saturday's scrimmages?

We are in one as well. I would think it would, but, I have not heard anything yet. All I know is we paid our vehicle taxes...had to walk about four blocks...and I was about ready to fall...I can't imagine them playing.

Acccording to extended weather reports in Louisville the temperature is going to drop in the 80's starting Friday. That may help, but Monday through Thursday looks like teams may have to go indoors to practice.

I was watching The Weather Channel this morning and they wre doing a story from Cincinnati about how football coaches in Ohio & NKY are handling the heat.

Also saw on the news last night that a Holmes player collapsed during the shooting of the team picture. But he was fine after the medics got him cooled down.

So far here it's managed to move the practice up to 3 in the afternoon instead of in the mornings. I don't see the sense in doing that to them though.

The evening news reported that a Lexington Henry Clay player had some problems in practice today and was taken to the hospital for precautions. I do not have any other details at this time. If someone else can shed some light on this please feel free to do so. Thanks in advance.

Unless the weather report has changed since Monday night, NKY's Saturday scrimmages will be fine.
