So Kenton, Boone, etc. etc. etc. are going to "model" Campbell County's AD plan of the future???????????? Riiiiiiight.......

 

I'm not sure what Joe's job was. I like Joe and thought he was a nice guy but he had one of the easiest AD positions possible didn't he??????? In CC they had a high school AD, a middle school AD, and Joe was the district AD. He was able to delegate games out to administators (never heard of that before), and what exactly did he do? He didn't fund that football field work and there have been people trying to get that done for years with little to no help from the administation above. I would say Strong (who would have had to OK the funding and actually attends the sporting events) had more to do with that than anyone.

 

Question: Do you consider an Athletic Director to be part of administration to a school system?

I would certainly consider an AD as part of a school's administration.

All I know is for a school that large, they have a real MESS out there !!! Its a shame they cant produce better athletic teams.

I would too, but they are below several people who can prevent them from doing a lot of things.

If you think working with people who go out of their way to make you fail is an easy job, you do not have much work experience. PVC posted an excellent review of the situation at Campbell in another thread. To call it easy is posting without knowing the facts. You may want to check your info on this. The high school ad position is the easy one. Work for 100 days with full index to pad retirement and I just learned that job was suppose to include a teaching position at the school?! Talk about easy street.

Got awful quiet when I asked this. So Joe Roberts did a great job, yet none of his supporters know what his job was. Also, he left on his own he wasn't fired.

As the number of sports increases and the number of schools increase the balancing of the sports at all of the schools draws harder and harder.

 

Presently, I would assume, that the AD for the district is the final call in sports issues. Conflict between MS and HS sports and the AD is in position to address that situation also taking in concerns from schools being sitebased.

Players moving up from MS to HS is always a concern.

 

Scheduling of fields and working with the community with rec and sports programs ran and operated outside of the school system.

 

The budgets of athletic programs are HUGE especially in the bigger districts. NO WAY a full time teacher could handle all of this and have any sort of life outside of school. Along with budgeting, I would assume the district AD is looking for ways to supplement funds for athletics through fundraising and outside sources.

 

I am sure that the AD oversees all the BOOSTERS programs in the district. And that is a MONSTER of a financially.

 

I would assume the district AD is in charge of the fields, maintenance, improvement and making sure they are ready to be played on. Not sure I am talking about mowing, but I know that is part of what the AD at Pendleton County does.

 

If CC has a countywide urine testing policy, I am sure that the AD for the district would oversee that.

 

Not to mention handling all the communication from all of the coaches that live in Campbell County and are not employed by the Campbell County school district but are very willing to share their expertise on the state of the Camels athletic program.

You are correct PC does have a 100 day AD. If I remember correctly the idea with the old super was to eliminate the high school from using a teaching position. There was something in the paper back when it originally came out. The old AD took a teaching position for part of his salary. I thought the idea was to hire someone to work to manage both middle and high. I may be wrong.

You got to love those who look at things in the mirror instead of what is coming ahead. Fan is right if the answer is to keep things the way it always operated at. The job is not needed. But, since this is a posting site for athletics the question begs does fan really think Campbell County has been a force in anything? Yes there is one sport, but I wonder what the old ad was the coach of too? :sssh:

 

Last check from my nephew who is in middle school, there is now a 3/4 and 5/6 grade team, along with 7/8 in football alone. Checking, come to find out this was done by Roberts. There is a bunch of middle school programs, cross country, track, more basketball teams, checking, come to find out this was done by Roberts and the middle school principal is giving public credit to.

 

I think fan has ties to the past that makes him less than objective. But, I do have a question for him. He stated the ad is an administrator and things at the football field was trying to be done for years. So the question is for years who was the ad trying to get it done and who was the ad who got it done in just a year or two? Will call this question the last look in the mirror.
