January 11, 201610 yr Below is a interesting story on NBC Sports last night. While I think the behavior of the Bengals last night was unacceptable this does shed a different view of what happened last night and how the officials messed up some rule interpretations: Here's the link: Key calls that swayed Bengals-Steelers playoff game | NBC SportsWorld
January 11, 201610 yr I thought all along that Shazier scored a touchdown, but I guess the whistle bew.
January 11, 201610 yr I thought all along that Shazier scored a touchdown, but I guess the whistle bew. He did score, but his hit was illegal.
January 11, 201610 yr He did score, but his hit was illegal. The ruled it a fumble which in turn should have been a TD. Or did I miss something?
January 11, 201610 yr The whistle blew on the fumble and should not have. The rule now is not to blow a play dead and let it go, letting replay decide the outcome.
January 11, 201610 yr The ruled it a fumble which in turn should have been a TD. Or did I miss something? No... You're right... It was a fumble and should've been a TD... But, it also should've been a penalty on that tackle for leading with the crown of his helmet... It doesn't matter if he's a defenseless receiver or a runner... It was a penalty and the refs missed it... They also missed the TD, because if you aren't going to call the hit a penalty... Then it was a fumble and a TD, but the whistle blew or some nonsense. Fact is officiating had been horrible all year... Worse than replacement refs... Lol!
