Look for search programs in the list of programs Windows presents. Those usually contain malicious code. Don't remove something unless you are sure it is something you do not want and do not NEED. Malware and adware will not necessarily remove registry entries. Also, some search engines place programs on your computer, not uninstallable by the Windows control panel, that will reinstall the malicious program the next time you open your browser. Run antimalware programs, like Malwarebytes, after uninstalling potentially harmful programs.
