9th Region All-A could be competitive this year

Featured Replies

Do not know the draw and it is being played at Lloyd but the 9th region All-A is shaping up to be competitive this year.

Got to put Newport, NewCath, and Holy Cross as the ones to beat but Lloyd (on their floor), Dayton, St. Henry, Beechwood, Ludlow are all capable of being competitive in any game.

Unlike most years where you could predict it all the way thru.

If you took out NCC and Holy Cross it would be competitive. I look for Holy Cross to win, now the 10th this year will be crazy competitive.

Got to say I was favorably impressed with St. Henry's performance in Mike Murphy Classic at Mason Co. Very well coached and fundamentally sound. After opening with solid win over Lewis Co. hung with 10th Region power Mason Co. for three quarters before running out of gas, then lost by 10 to #1 in 15th Region Lawrence Co. I would not want to have my team overlook these guys in All A. They could beat anyone on any given night. IMO

One side of the bracket has

Beechwood playing the winner of St.Henry/Heritage

NCC vs. Lloyd

Other side has

Newport playing the winner of Ludlow/HolyCross

Villa playing the winner of Dayton/Bellevue

Looks like a definite advantage to NCC,although you can never rule St. Henry, as Newport and HC are in thye other bracket. Being played at LLoyd makes it an even playing field and it is wide open.

Soooo nobody stands a chance and it's either NCC or Holy Cross going to win? I have a strong possibility Newport will have something to say about that.

Newport is not as much of a long shot as in the past, but they are a long shot.

If I am reading the bracket correctly the winner of Newport / Holy Cross (should they beat Ludlow) would then have a Semi-final against Dayton/Villa/Bellevue before they have to play in the Final. So it is not like they winner would have to take on NCC (probable finalist) right away.

Newport is not that much of a long shot. They are competitive with anyone in the tournament and it is not a guarantee that they will even have to face Holy Cross AND NCC.

I believe Newport has the chance of stepping it up for the All-A. I also think the tournament could go between a few teams this year compared to the last so many
