Clyde -? When the NDA coach got the T last night CC was on a wide open break away for a layup. Should the official have let the CC player score then hit the coach with a T. Losing the breakaway actually cost CC potentially 2 points in this exchange. layup, T, ball vs t,ball

 

"Score" or finish the break ? Finish the break, likely yes, only because we don't know if a score will occur. A Technical is always dead ball. This took potential points off the board. Whatever was said had to have been said in transition, so it better have been worthy of killing a break. It sounds as if there is more to the situation

CC offensive relies on the 3 to open up the passing lanes and back door cuts. NDA did a fantastic job of playing pack line defense inside out and dared CC to shoot the 3. Because of CC success last year defenses are going to game plan around TC,TJ so the open looks they saw last year are not so wide open this year. They don't look the same in the eyes either, shooting less than 20% will shake your confidence and for a shooter confidence is a big deal. Hard fought game Jenna Martin can flat out play no lack of confidence with her give her some space and she is knocking down that 3.

 

As a fan and no dog in the fight. NDA is better off with Martin scoring 5 pts less a game and the team scoring 15-20 more. They run 95% or more trying to get her free on sets no offensive system and 3 stand around as the pg tries to get her the ball often being stuck because Martin is well guarded and they have no other plan of attack. 40 pts a game isn't going to win many games. Martin plays fearless and I agree about her hitting the 3s but make the defense work and be aware of others and maybe she even gets more looks and the team scores 60 a game. She isn't handling the ball so I would think ND can find other ways to score as well. if they do and become a team that plays that defense they do and can find more scoring, they are in my top 3-5 in NKY but they are not there yet.

I am not sure how we can call that well coached? What is well coached about a head coach taking a very hard fought game away from his team. He never shuts up on the sideline to his own players and the referees. I have a 6th grader who enjoys watching several teams play, I would be very hesitant to put her there for basketball. First thing she says in the car is if I was that player(s) I would be so upset.

I didn't say the were at this point. I said IF they can do these things from what I have seen they would be. At this point since they are not that team yet or may never be I have them in the next 5. IMO

NDA was playing a really solid game executing what appeared to be a sound game plan. The "T" was unfortunate at such a critical time in the game. NDA fought through it though tied the game on a nice out of bounds play hitting a big 3 then Klye K. for CC made a huge shot from the short corner for the win with 2 seconds left.

I am a stat guy so had to look up what I was saying

 

Martin is 9 of 26 from 3 through 3 games for 34%. Has taken 42 shots for 38% next person has 17 attempts and I know atleast 3 of those arer at end of qtrs as I watched them. This doesn't take away from Martin and how she is which is very good but rather shows how much better NDA and her could be with more options and drawing defenders off her. NDA doesn't put enough shots to shoot 35-40% a game.

What has been lost in this game was a fantastic honorary captain named Camden.

Doesn't look like it worked and I've tried three times. If anyone has it and can, he deserves it to be shared.

ND is gritty and well coached. CC seems to be struggling a little. Just shooting woes that will get better? Teams just learning how to play them better and have game planned for them? Thoughts?

 

CC imo really misses Carson Gray. TJ and TC are being asked to do more ball handling and it will get better. They will be just fine come end of the season..
