Officials release name of carjacking suspect | The Seattle Times

The King County Medical Examiner’s office identified the carjacking suspect shot and killed in Northeast Seattle on Sunday as Raymond Azevedo.

Azevedo, 35, was shot multiple times in a standoff with police after a chase throughout the city.

Seattle police say Azevedo stole three vehicles during the chase, which started downtown and ended in the Wedgwood neighborhood, and shot at officers. Twelve officers are on paid leave while the shooting is investigated.

The shooting of Azevedo was captured on dash-cam video and subsequently released by the police department.

The suspect from Lakewood, Pierce County, had last served prison time between October 2013 and October 2014. He was on community custody, Washington’s version of probation, until Nov. 7, according to the Department of Corrections.

The man had previous convictions for second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, first-degree malicious mischief, attempting to elude police and third-degree assault of law enforcement, a corrections spokesman said in an email.

Because of his criminal convictions, the man was barred from legally possessing a handgun.

Imagine that. When are criminals going to start obeying they gun laws? If they would just obey the law we wouldn't need stricter gun control laws.

You can get some people out of prison but you can't get the prison out of some people...

So question for the officers on the board...I don't know because I'm an angel and have never been in trouble or in a cruiser(cough, cough).....when in a high speed chase like that, is there a steering wheel button that allows you to talk to the dispatchers or do you have to take your hands off the wheel and use the "walkie talkie"?

Primary unit should be focusing on driving, your secondary unit in theory should be handling all radio traffic, ie. Speed, traffic, road conditions, location, charges, etc.

I have seen a couple of cars with the button on the steering wheel like you were asking about.

In this concept car the Silver Buttons on the wheel are for the radio

If the girl had not gotten out of the SUV would the officers have fired back at the perp ? Is that taken into consideration if known?

If known, yes. The ones that were firing from behind may not have known. Glad she got out. I was literally saying, get out girl!
