The State Football Finals kept me plenty busy this past weekend but each night I relaxed by watching a Science Fiction movie in the middle of the night. Some of those plots are a little scary...

Additionally I watched the President's Address and some of the analysis of the issues including a little about gun control. I don't want to get into the current gun control debate other than to speculate how it is going to be about 50 years from now, but maybe less.

I can hear the NRA now:

"American Citizens have a right to own Phased Plasma Rifles in the 40 Watt Range!"

Well, how far are we from lasers being more common for destruction? Heck where is the video that someone loaded here of the laser missile defense system? Imagine a laser being able to saw you in half with a push of a button. Lord we would long for the olden days of the AKs.:lol2:

We already have directed energy weapons:

The ADS works by firing a high-powered beam of 95 GHz waves at a target, which corresponds to a wavelength of 3.2 mm.[13] The ADS millimeter wave energy works on a similar principle as a microwave oven, exciting the water and fat molecules in the skin, and instantly heating them via dielectric heating. One significant difference is that a microwave oven uses the much lower frequency (and longer wavelength) of 2.45 GHz. The short millimeter waves used in ADS only penetrate the top layers of skin, with most of the energy being absorbed within 0.4 mm (1/64"),[14] whereas microwaves will penetrate into human tissue about 17 mm (0.67").[15]

======================

It is only a matter of time before we develop even more advanced technologies, more lethal technologies, and do it in a more compact manner.

In other words everyone, laugh all you want at me, this stuff is coming, and when it comes the NRA will be heavily involved.

I came across this picture on Facebook today, it perfectly illustrates my future prediction:

Something to think about. 2A is the right to bear 'arms'. What do we call it when 'military' weapons are kept from a nation - an 'arms embargo'.
