Clyde Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 The most competitive rivalry over the last few years was no different in either game this year. Congrats to the Jags.
Clyde Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Shoutout to my man Kyler Padgett. He's been banged up the entire year but had a great season. Dude is a playmaker. Not easy coming into the QB1 spot after DB's 3-year run but he did it with aplomb. He'll be hard to replace next season. 8-4 with 2 losses to Cooper by a total of about 10 points and a bad loss to SK and a close game against Ryle. Didn't end the way we wanted but it's a really nice year. Congrats to Dave, the staff, and the boys. Onto basketball for KP.
Clyde Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I listened online. It sounded like Cooper was dropping 8 on every play. Some of those pass plays took forever as KP ran around trying to find someone to throw to. Did Conner try make run plays? I was only half-listening sometimes but it seemed like a pass on every down I recall.

Cane Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Cooper played a 3 man front all game and pressured the Conner QB all night. I don't recall to many running plays for Conner. He was a 1 man show for Conner but he took a beating tonight.
Porky Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 What a great game. Much closer than I expected. Congrats to Conner on a really nice season and good luck to Cooper as they move on.

Many 3rd and long situations, he was able to run for the 1st and then some, or find an underneath receiver to complete a pass for 1st down. Cooper DB's were forced to hold to prevent long passes after coverage of 7+ seconds. Whatever the defensive plan was for Cooper was, it wasn't pretty, but it got the win. Conner never quit; just couldn't break free in the red zone. IMO Special teams decided this game. Sop Byron Brown continues to make BIG plays on the punt return hit, scoop and Score. C Michaels had some great punts and his hang time on that particular set up the timing for the hit. A good battle between two good teams. Good luck to all of the Cougar Seniors in their future endeavors.

On top of that Schlarman's job was to go where Padgett went.

From my angle it looked like a muff, meaning he never had control of the ball started to run and dropped it tried to regain control and then lost it, but I was not very close to the play.
doubledeuce Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Just saw the replay...muff punt. Returner goes to catch it and slides a little to his left, ball hits his hands, goes between his legs and falls to the ground before Cooper player is there. Muff punt and should have been blown dead. Does it change the game, IDK it would have been Cooper ball 1st and goal from about the 3 or 4 yard line.
Clyde Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Just saw the replay...muff punt. Not good if true in a one TD game.

If the punt returner muffs (meaning touches and drops) the punt.......is it not a live ball after that, and the defender is allowed to scoop and score? Why should that play be blown dead?

doubledeuce Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Not good if true in a one TD game. He goes to catch the punt, like normal and starts to run to his left at the same time. He takes two steps before he realizes that the ball went through his arms and then between his legs, the ball is on the ground behind him.
