Not automatically. The Harbin system (I believe) only rewards you for playing hard teams IF you beat them. If you do, then you get points for the teams they beat. If you lose, I'm pretty sure you get zip. There are no SOS points.

I am not saying use the Harbin system but use a point system of some sort. Example: A few years ago Lawrence County had a 7 -3 record and missed the playoffs. Yes they did not win in their district which you need to do in Kentucky, but, their district has 7 teams in it, whereas some districts have only 4 or 5. My point is that they were a few teams that made the playoffs with worse records and two of them had losing records.

Is this how high school football should be? NO!

But by using a point system and have teams in a conference, which most of Ohio now has and why Ironton dropped some Kentucky schools off of their schedule, teams could play other teams in their area which would allow easier travel for fans. It will not always be perfect but at least the teams with winning records would make the playoffs and not teams that win one or two games in their district and make it.

Well just read'n it all made me dizzy so I'm not even gonna get into this one other than to say I like the ohio way of it.

I hate Ohio's system. I would be strongly opposed to it in KY. Geographically speaking, some parts of ky are stronger than others in different classes. That's a fact and the harbin system wouldn't solve that one. Over 60% of the teams now get in, and with any reclassification even more would, possibly up to 95% or more. Why in the world would we also use the harbin ratings system for playoff purposes? Talk about travel nightmares! Because of our present system, teams don't have to worry as much about non district scheduling, allowing for teams to choose to play tougher schedules with minimal penalty for doing so. IE... it only comes into play in a tie breaker scenario. They also can schedule closer to home. a soft 7-3 versus a tough 5-5 or tougher 4-6 for example. In the end, if you win the games you have to win, ie.. your district games, your in. If you don't, you don't deserve to be there.

Geographically speaking, parts of ohio have always been stronger too.
