O.K., Here we go -- #1,) Not a huge Fairview fan ? Well, you certainly were when you were doing your best to defend their football program when the allegations started coming out as if you were one of them or something. I remember denial along with slamming me along with others on here - charging Liars, crazy, jealous of Fairview among others that you along with others were doing. What happened, did you leave "the wood" with the others that were howling on here ? I will give you some credit, al but one or two left, shut up went in hiding or all of the mention when the Hammer dropped and what I along with others were proven right , justified. Ring a Bell ?

2.) Why isn't about that, bc you say so ? I remember you on a lot of Raceland threads, mostly criticizing Raceland and/or the Raceland fans in some way or another.

What makes it special ? A lot of pride in our school system, all athletic teams - boys and girls along with football. A wining football program and proud (yes, at times over zealous) fans ... "Fans" , that word, term is meant as a shortened term for "fanatics" ....about your team. I personally don't see any problem with that. I realize that some may not understand. Check out some JCHS, Highlands, Ashland, Beechwood threads along with your obsession with the Raceland threads and you might figure it out.

3.) Raceland has a lot of accomplishments, others have posted the numbers of district titles, wins. Also, a couple of "Legit", non sanctioned Region Championships. Should it take state championships to be an accomplishment then no, we don't have any and would love to have those like Ashland, Russell in our immediate area. So if it takes that the Ashland and Russell along with Greenup (state title in the 70's) are the only "accomplished" as you say, teams in our area.

Summing it up its about Pride ..... nothing more-nothing less. I realize that some don't know or understand what that means.

Relax man I believe I hit a nerve, simply saying it isn't as good as you make it out to be. As far as the Fairview stuff goes yes I did say some of those things but I'm just happy the good people in that deal that got crushed are better off and Musick got what he deserved in the end. I saw him at the Raceland/Fairview game and he looked absolutely awful. Good luck to the Rams this week as I truly wish everyone luck.

I was going to and probably still will post this on the Raceland / Russell predictilon thread but since a question / questions came up about Being a Raceland fan and why - then here you go. After reading this personal note aboute myself, should anyone question my dedication, support for All that is Raceland then you never will. I lay it all out Right Here (remember, this was several years ago so some things like some tournaments were then, not now ...............

On a very personal note, I want to share something about me that maybe describes some of my reasons for loving this place. Growing up, I loved sports - all sports. I, like most all other kids growing up played all the youth league sports, Jr. High sports and wanting to be a "Ram" like any other kid in this town. I was far, very far from a great - even good player. I more and more was getting "winded/tired" way too soon, had more growing trouble with strength, was losing strength/skills rather than getting better. I eventually started not making teams, etc. and got really down about that. Unlike other places, other schools, teammates/classmates and just "kids" in general there were NO ONE putting me down, making fun of, looking down upon...anything like that. I think that they knew what I was feeling but rather than distance themselves my teammates, friends stayed close friends, non judgemental and treated me no different than when I was playing/competing with them. Long story to short....it wasn't until years later that I found out why I was losing strength, endurance, etc.. I was diagnosed with secondary progressive Multiple Sclerosis, my body was "fighting itself". At that time in the 70's, M.S. was little known much less treatments so when diagnosed as an adult the disease had already progressed until not long after and now I am wheelchair bound. I don't think , no I know that no one has ever had my desire to play, excel but just wasn't meant to be. That's why I am so passionate about MY Rams, the way I was treated by the great people of this community.

Other reasons that everyone in these two communities of Raceland / Worthington and the surrounding areas of the "RAM NATION" are a special people......We have had former players, Alumni come in from as far as San Diego, CA., Raliegh, NC, Jacksonville, FL., Nevada, Denver, CO. just to name a few for a Rival football game (Russell, Fairview, GC), homecoming and H.O.F. games. I know that most all schools have very proud fans and alumni but I can confidently say that I have Never seen a fan base, Alumni, Administration, Teachers, other School employees that are as Good of supporters of All school activities as there are in this little place called Raceland/Worthington. This community is painted RAM ORANGE and BLACK. Not only for this season, is that way every season ! As just one recent example last week another "Parade" went through town celebrating the Girls Volleyball Team Regional Champions, who will be in the State Tourney this weekend. Football, Baseball, Track, Basketball, Girls Basketball, Track, Volleyball, Softball.....Band is no Different, the Raceland "Ram Pride" ban has won many competitions as well as a couple of State Championships. Academics are supported as well, Raceland is well known for excellence in academics. There have been quite a lot of students transfer to Raceland from some area schools just for the education provided from Elementary to the High School Levels.

So Yes, I am a extremely proud Alumni of Raceland High School, 1975 and still support all areas of the now RWHS !

The problem is that Raceland has never done anything at the State level. Nobody west of Morehead even knows who you are. All the preseason BG talk and everything is so humorous. You can talk the talk' date=' just not walk the walk.[/quote']

 

I disagree. I play with a few people from Mayfield, Beechwood, and Russelville. They know who Raceland is and they like and respect Raceland. Most of them have asked to see a game in Raceland. People know who Raceland are, obviously not as much as say Beechwood or Mayfield. The thing is, Raceland is consistently in the state semi final mix now. They were two years ago and they, "should" be now. Raceland is not a bad team. They just aren't consistent right now. I think they definitely deserved to lose to Paintsville. But I think they shouldn't have lost to Fairview. I think they're better than Fairview by 2 TDs. That didn't show when they played but come the playoffs, I think the Rams will surprise a couple people.

 

No one thought Paintsville would have beaten Pikeville last year, but they did. My point is, people know Raceland. Other teams want to beat Raceland. It's how it has always been. I think Raceland is better than their past two weeks' performances. I think they shock some people in the playoffs.

Has Raceland regressed as the season has went on? The team I saw in the grid in August isn't a team I would ever imagine would lose to Paintsville by 43 points.

I think this team has the talent to make a run in the playoffs, I just don't know that they want to. The attitude and energy level is too Jekyll and Hyde. I'm not sure they have the confidence to ride a bus two miles to Flatwoods to beat Russell, much less ride two plus hours to beat Bishop. Just my opinion though.
