October 15, 201510 yr PP and Israel are apples and oranges. My question is do they need it? What are we sending it for? Are we paying them to be our friends or is there a need for the nearly 4 billion? I know we need it here.
October 15, 201510 yr Author To be clear, I am pro Israel and anti abortion. But it's interesting that Israel has such a liberal stance on abortion, and no one seems to have an issue with it. Will the US and Israel ever stop being close? No! Jonathan Pollard didn't even put too much of a dent in the relationship, and heck, he gets released in a few weeks. But as asked by Hellcat, do they need it? What are we paying them for? Israel has one of the largest lobbing groups in DC, paying people on both sides of the isle. Mitch has received over $500,000, and Reid has received something over $350,000. If they need the money, then why do they spend so much on their lobbies in DC? Are they funneling some back? Also, in the aid that we give Israel they are allowed to use that money to pay for Israeli built military equipment, a deal that we do not offer to any other nation. Heck, we send aid to Russia as well, close to $500 million if I am not mistaken, of which $20 million is in military assistance.
October 15, 201510 yr We are $18 trillion in debt and give money to everybody...ugh... There a whole lot of countries we give money to that I would stop before I would stop giving to Israel. They are one of our strongest allies...in spite of what Obama has tried to do to damage the relationship.
October 16, 201510 yr Keep in mind, Israel is one of the most prosperous nations on the planet. They also are one of the most innovated countries, as well as among the top nations in technology and pharmaceuticals, on top of having one of the worlds best economies. I believe we should stop sending as much aid as we do overseas but because of our interests Israel would be at the bottom of my list of who we cut. If we cut everyone fine . But if we fund anyone then we keep funding Israel.

Many say that the U.S. should stop funding Planned Parenthood, yet we send billions of dollars each year to Israel, who offers free abortions for almost all women. Should the U.S. have a say in this since we do send aid to Israel? I know what websites you have been reading . This argument is pretty popular on left sites. But to answer your question I'd fund Israel before Planned Parenthood.

Actually I didn't read any websites, the topic came up while out with my Jewish financial planner. But, does Israel need all of that help? I am in no way saying we abandon them, that would be the last thing we need to do. We need to stay close allies with them no matter what, but do we need to assist them that much?

It's not about help while it may be part of it it's more about influence. We are the leash.
