September 25, 201511 yr I guess if a defense forces a fumble for a touchback, it doesn't count since they didn't actually recover it? Sure hope I don't lose by two. Sure would've been nice if the Giants D kept playing hard throughout the garbage time 4th quarter. Went from 20 to 9.

I just looked at ESPN and they didn't count it either. I went to bed with 11 points by the Giants defense and that was after the game was over. They must have done a stat correction because now its only 9 points and the fumble isn't recorded anymore. I'm guessing the wording is that you get points for a fumble recovery and they didn't technically recover it, but you could argue they did recover it via touchback. Who knows.

Since nobody for the Giants actually got possession of it, however, there's no way it could be a recovery. Forced fumble, yes. If they'd have recovered it on the 1 you'd gotten the points.
