Belfry plays the 3rd quality team in a row... and the first of back to back games against outstanding out of State Competition.

Knoxville Catholic enters 2-3, but don't be deceived by the record. Their three losses have came to Christ Presbyterian (#1 3A team and defending State Champs), Fulton (#1 4A and defending State Champs), and undefeated 4A Knoxville Central.

Knoxville Catholic is a very talented team and has a 4* WR who has committed to USC and a Sophomore OT who is considered one of the Nation's Best in the Class of 2018 and has already committed to Tennessee over offers from Alabama, Texas A&M, and Clemson.

Belfry's pass defense hasn't exactly been their strongest point thusfar,,, at least in First Halves. Knoxville Catholic runs the spread and throw it all over the field. Best comparison is to take the best parts of CovCath and LexCath and combine them.

Should be an excellent test for the Pirates as this will be the best collection of skill and talent they will probably see in the Regular Season on the Offensive Side of the football.

Go Belfry! Beat Knoxville!:thumb:

2013 Gallia Academy, OH 41-19

2013 CAK, TN 27-21

Has Belfry ever lost to a Private School? I went looking and didn't see any games against Covington Catholic... I see where Belfry beat Fort Campbell 21-14 back in 1991 Pike County Bowl but I am having a hard time finding another time they may have played another Private School.

Considering both LCA and LexCath are newer schools, and the lack of private school in West Virginia I am honestly wondering if Belfry is perfect all-time.

I could be wrong, but I think Gallia Academy is a public school. I believe it was established as a military academy long ago, but hasn't been one for decades. For some reason, "Academy" has remained part of the school name.

Not sure..was always under the impression it was private

I am also trying to recall the last time Belfry hosted a team with two high profile prospects such as this. I am thinking one of those Ironton teams.

They have played teams with multiple D-1 guys in the Finals (Etown had three, '07 Central had 4).. they have hosted teams with a single major D-1 prospect.. but this will be one of the first times a team with a pair of elite recruits came to visit that I am aware of

Lawrence County is closest to the right answer as far as I can recall.

They had a team with Jared Hostetter (Tennessee), Gerad Parker (UK), and Damien Wright (Miami-Ohio). I would only consider Hostetter an elite prospect of that group though.

Great question. I'll consult with the think tank but at first blush we can't think of a loss.

I think Belfry beat Newport Catholic (pre NCC) in a bowl game in the late 50s. I'll check it out and get to you.

Knoxville Catholic is an impressive team. Belfry will more than have their hands full... their three losses have came to teams that are a combined 12-1. That lone loss was by Fulton to Maryville who is he #1 overall team in the State of Tennessee.

The respective ranking of the teams that beat them # 1 3A CPA (#3 overall), #1 4A Fulton (# 11 overall), and #2 4A Knoxville Central (# 21 overall).

Of those three losses only CPA had Knoxville Catholic put away heading into the 4th Quarter. These boys can play

*******************************************************************

Knoxville Catholic only plays 1 guy both ways full-time, they use 3 guys both ways in rotation form... with only one of those guys playing on the line.

*******************************************************************

Despite their difficult schedule Catholic averages 415.2 yards per game of Offense (287 passing, 128.2 rushing)

USC commit, and son of former Tennessee Volunteer legend Tee Martin, Amari Rodgers leads Catholic in rushing and receiving. He has ran for 287 yards and 2 TD's, he has also caught 19 passes for 587 yards and 7 TD's.

Belfry's program has their all time record against NCC as 1-1 (prior to this season) so it looks like we may have lost to them in that old bowl game instead of won.

Are there any live video streams for this one?

No I don't think so. Have to listen at wdhr.com to Bobby and Coach Mick
