I should probably just let it go, but this eats at me. Do they still spread that myth at Bowling Green? They're old, but second oldest is not true. Off the top of my head, both Male and Manual have been playing football (let alone existing as schools) since the 1800s, while BG was founded in 1908. Owensboro Senior I believe dates to the 1870s.

Hey, you can be forgiven! I found this profile on the BGHS site that states the same! (http://www.b-g.k12.ky.us/userfiles/1506/PROFILE%2020122013%20updated%20101012.doc) I'm a history guy, and it's just always blown me away that it is still claimed to be true. It's a shame this feature from several years ago is not still on their website, but they had a story about how the letter "H" belongs to BGHS and Male because they were the first two schools, and that's why there's so many similarities between the two. I just remember thinking that it was impossible no one had ever corrected them in their thinking.
