American Conservative view of president Obama

Recommended Posts

Are the president's diplomatic initiatives winning a new American century?

In ways that have eluded Washington pundits and policymakers, President Barack Obama is deploying a subtle geopolitical strategy that, if successful, might give Washington a fighting chance to extend its global hegemony deep into the 21st century. After six years of silent, sometimes secret preparations, the Obama White House has recently unveiled some bold diplomatic initiatives whose sum is nothing less than a tri-continental strategy to check Beijing’s rise. As these moves unfold, Obama is revealing himself as one of those rare grandmasters who appear every generation or two with an ability to go beyond mere foreign policy and play that ruthless global game called geopolitics.

A lot of that article is over my head. This seems like Obama is doing something good yet under the radar and won't be recognized until he is years removed from the office. Is that a correct assessment?

Yes, but it will only be "good" if it works. It's an interesting article, to be sure.

Alfred McCoy is a babbling idiot with subsidies and time on his hand to pave the way for the oft-mention Hillary to assume what grand schemes Obama has started. I see the article as extremely slanted....first off, as mentioned it is indetermined and still quite risky to assess how decisions about Iran especially will play out. How has middle-eastern policy worked out so far?....Syria, Israel, Egypt. There have been ok to good things but to paint it in this fashion as "genius" is propaganda.
