September 14, 201511 yr The two schools with probably the two nicest football fields/athletic facilities in the NCAC. Nice.Oberlins new facilities that opened last year have been said to be among, if not the nicest in all of DIII across the country. Very nice. Also a little birdie told me A local NKY kid led the team in receptions last night on the way to the win.
September 14, 201511 yr [video=youtube_share;Msp-QVrNhbw] This was taken right before the completion of the new Facilities Last year so the green space outside the stadium wasn't finished yet. Also next to the stadium is an indoor practice facility used by all the outdoor sports teams for practice etc.
September 14, 201511 yr Sad that neither of these teams seem to take football seriously. That's not true and very unfair from someone sitting on the outside looking at the program from a distance. In the past the former coach at Oberlin really set the program back due to the limited numbers and his philosophy. He was there way too long. The new HC who was hired last year and their AD are doing a lot to turn the program around including the numbers. They didn't put all the money into the program last year and this year ($12 mill+) if they didn't care about the program. Playing in one of the toughest conferences will take time but if you follow the program you can already see the changes for the positive.
September 14, 201511 yr I never knew there was anyone on this site who pays attention to NCAA D3 Ohio football other than me. I love it.
September 14, 201511 yr I am into history and absolutely love the history with Oberlin. It is where John Heisman was a player/Coach before going to Georgia Tech. Oberlin is also the last Ohio team to beat Ohio State. Actually back in the day Oberlin had the best football team in the state when John Heisman was there. They and Ohio state were in the same conference and Oberlin was one of the original 6 schools that formed the NCAA. When schools started expanding to increase their revenues, Oberlin decided to stay a small liberal arts school to be more selective in their admissions while Ohio State went the other way and that is why Onerlin stayed small is DIII today and OSU is DI. Although some may think they don't care about football due to their recent history with their former coach, the NCAC which is the conference they play in had 3 teams in the top 16 in the country last season so it will take time to get to that level but they have started the last 2 years to change for the better. Last year was the first year of bigger recruiting classes and to give you an idea, last years team had 6 seniors total. Last years incoming freshman recruiting class was 23 players. The philosophy is changing but it will take time. In a side note, their RB was just named NCAC player of the week today. So it's not like they don't have players.
