Beechwood 10 Highlands 5

Both games should be fun to watch and hopefully Champion Window Field will be packed with fans. Has anyone heard why the powers to be didn't stagger all/some of the games today? Seems a shame not to let high school baseball fans watch more than one game today......

Seems a shame to beat a dead horse post after post.

what was also ridiculous was the times of the games...it was way too hot for some of these kids to be out there at 1...it would have been nice to see a stagger, but who knows...

Hot is Baseball weather! The hotter the better.

Did their seniors leave, walk, get kicked off? Not sure about the true story, heard the seniors left the club in some manner?

A few (2 or 3) who were not getting a lot of PT left the team.

So are/were the Highlands fans/players/parents satisfied with the job that first year coach Mike Johnson did this year? Will he be back next year?

The JV team can use some work:D

The reason the times were not staggered was because they try to make sure that all games are played on the same day. This way, no team is at an advantage/disadvantage when it comes to days rest. For example:

If the St. Henry /Villa game had been played at 1pm and the Beechwood Highlands game at 5pm, there is a small chance that the St. Henry/Villa game would get played and then a storm hit and cancel the Beechwood Villa game. This would cause St. Henry to gain an advantage because going into the semi's thier pitching staff would have an additional days rest vs. Beechwood.

Ironically, if we had gotten enough rain in Union to cancel the regional game being played at Ryle, but no rain at all in Kenton or Campbell counties, ALL FOUR GAMES would have been cancelled to keep them on the same "Rest" schedule.

That's just the way they do it.
