Newport Central Catholic 28 Campbell County 19

Sounds like what everyone is intimating ,That NCC didn't win the game Campbell Co. lost it .

Not what I'm saying. Even though NCC was down 13 at the half, the game way very evenly played. NCC missed 2 FG's and Campbell connected on an 89 yard pass play for a TD. I think the better team one.

One thing I seemed to notice is it looked like NCC wore Campbell down. The Camels looked tired. Should a 2A team really be able to wear down a 6A team? I don't think so.

No, they shouldn't. Campbell is not a very good football team.

Should I assume having the stud in the backfield dramatically helped NCC's offense?

Jake my have played a total of 5-7 downs in the 2nd half because of cramps. He did have a couple nice runs, but was a non-factor. Although, Campbell Co. did everything they could to kick away from him to negate his exceptional return abilities.

Incorrect assumption. Really didn't make much of an impact. Did he even have 40 yards for the game? Poor punting on Campbell's part that gave NCC short fields and good defense on NCC's part in the second half are the reason for the win.

Other than the blocked punt and the 6 yard punt, Camels punts weren't that bad.

The NewCath defense, especially the run "D" was outstanding. If you are a run oriented team, you're not going to get many yards on this bunch.

NCC had one nice drive to open the second half, other than that they really seem to be struggling on offense.

That was a very nice drive for the Breds to open the 2nd half. BIG "tip of the cap" to "O" line, they were OUTSTANDING in the 2nd half. :ylsuper: The offense overall is still a "work in progress" in my view, plenty of time to works things out.

Campbell County completely took a dump in the 2nd half. Lickert is trying to keep the defenses honest by passing more but the QB doesn't have the skills. Too many overthrows/underthrows kill the Camels. CC's defense played admirably in the 1st half but couldn't get off the field in the 2nd half. Although New Cath made better adjustments at the half than CC did. They decided to go with an effective, short passing game that moved the ball for them. CC has no running game and should really think about running their sophomore RB sooner versus later. He's their best chance to get them going on the ground.

I think the credit needs to go to the NewCath defense in the 2nd half, as they stepped up and made the plays/forced the plays to get the upper hand. I do think the Breds pass defense was playing "soft" on the Camels last drive allowing them to score. :idunno: I don't think it matters who was running the ball for the Camels, that Breds rush "D" is pretty damn good.

That long TD pass (50 yds in the air) was a thing of beauty, perfectly place ball.

It looked like it.

Nice win for NCC and really looking forward to the Belfry game Friday

I'm tryin' to get off work early enough to make it down.

A few things that stick out from this one.......

Trent Wrobleski.......making a nice presence on the field.

Josh Schneider with an amazing one-handed catch setting up the 1st Breds TD, SportsCenter worthy :ylsuper:

MaLeek Lawrence with some great sacks and bone charring hits.

The "O" line with an outstanding 2nd half effort, great job guys. :thumb:

Campbell Co. QB, Carson Plessinger's 89 yd TD pass was a thing of beauty.

Nice win in the heat for NCC. I expected them to win. Good luck next week against Belfry.

Smith had 49 yards on 16 carries. Campbell County pretty much contained him all game.
