The Brossart and Bracken County youngsters got together on Monday night in Brooksville, earning some valuable playing time, with the Mustang JVs prevailing 12-8.

 

Not the prettiest game ever played at Howard Hall Stadium, but contentious.

 

Mustangs draw first blood on a 30 yard keeper by sophomore Bradley Moore, who also owns a varsity touchdown vs Dayton. The PAT was no good and the Mustangs settled for a 6-0 lead.

 

Bracken County was the beneficiary of a third quarter fumble recovery by Cooper Teegarden who returned the piggie 30 yards unmolested for a Polar Bear score. WIth the successful PAT conversion, suddenly the home team was on top 8-6.

 

The Mustangs would have an ensuing go-ahead TD pass play from Tyler MacDonald to Bryce Donnelly nullified by an illegal receiver downfield, preserving the Polar Bear lead.

 

The Mustangs struck again wth 7:40 to play in the game when MacDonald found Jack Howard streaking across the middle for a completion and 30 yard rumble into the endzone for the go-ahead score. Despite the best efforts of Nathan Bezold the PAT effort came up short and it was up to the Mustangs defense to preserve the victory.

 

With their backs to the wall late in the game, the Mustangs Bryce Donnelly intercepted a Hail Mary pass and the Mustang JVs returned back up the AA Highway with their first win of the season.

Good to see these two programs having JV teams, I know at times they both have had their varsity programs in jeopardy of folding due to low numbers.

somewhere between 16-26 depending on how many freshman suit up for JV

The Mustangs had 15/16 dressed for this one, with one out with a concussion and one out with a broken wrist.
