Clay knocks the Jaguars out of the postseason after North won the first two meetings this season between the two.

 

Nathan White pitched an outstanding game, retiring 12 straight batters at one point while the Tiger offense was piling on Jaguar pitching. He struck out nine and allowed only five hits in the complete-game win. Justin Collopy (hope I spelled that right) went 4-for-5 with three doubles and a single, scoring four times and driving in a run to lead a 12-hit attack.

 

North still had a fine season at 21-10. The fact that these two teams met in the first round simply furthers my dislike of the ridiculous blind draw.

Great game Tigers. You spelled Justin's name right. Nathan pitched an awesome game. They got in the Jaguar's heads early and never looked back. This is the Clay County team i expected to see the whole season. They played to their potential. Good Luck Thursday night on whoever you guys play Thursday. If the Tigers win it will be the first time they won the district title in awhile. Does anyone know the last time they won it??

North did have a good season. However, they weren't playing very well at the end of the season after looking very solid the first 2/3 of the year.

I hate to sound like a dry-sack but If I were Clay or North Laurel, I would never schedule Jackson, OBI or Red Bird in ANY sporting event again. Does that sound a little drastic?

All districts in the state should play the post season the same whether it be seed or draw. The only fair way to determine that the best teams get into the region is to seed. The KHSAA should mandate that all districts have a seeded tournament.

You got that right. The blind draw should be a thing of the past.

All districts in the state should play the post season the same whether it be seed or draw. The only fair way to determine that the best teams get into the region is to seed. The KHSAA should mandate that all districts have a seeded tournament.

The problem is working the schedule to incorporate playing all district opponents twice while still maintaining a tough non-district schedule with tournaments and such, should a coach choose to do so. Then when you have district games rained out, you have to cancel games in order to get the district opponents in.

 

That being said, I think seeding is the best method to keep from matching the two best teams against each other in the opening round and one of them being eliminated. I am just pointing out the problems of having to play all your district foes twice in a season in order to seed, and that is possibly why some districts choose not to do it, and draw instead.

If I were to look at the entire state, and compare what districts seed and which ones blind draw, almost without fail it would be a situation where there are 2-3 weak sisters who continue to vote blind draw so they can back-door their way into the region against weak competition. They may say in public that the schedule issue is of prime concern, but it's just a convenient excuse. Do it like the 50th did — play all district games as doubleheaders.

No. I wouldn't blame them one bit for refusing to play them in the regular season. Or if they do, beating them unmercifully to prove the point.

I agree. We do too many blind draws in KY right now as it is. District and regional blind draws should go the way of the dinosaur. Ask Perry Central and Hazard about their district blind draws in hoops. They are always the 2 best teams in their district and 1 usually gets shafted out of the regions thanks to the blind draw.

Seems to me that the stronger schools would play the "scheduling issues" card due to not having to play the "weak sisters" of their district and can schedule more tournaments and non district teams to bolster their schedule.

 

How can you work a HOME/HOME district schedule if you play a double header on the district night? Might as well only play each district opponent once and seed from those results.
