North scored on the first play from scrimmage on a 73 yd TD pass and never looked back. At half North had outgained OC 233-67. For the game it was 316-137. OC's only score came on a kick return in the 4th.

Justin Yurt had three scores for North....two on touchdown passes (73, 20) and one on a KOR for 95 yards (final score of game). He also intercepted a pass at the goal line that prevented an Oldham TD.

 

Oldham is still a work in progress for 2nd year coach Mike Shatzer. Starting off the season with Ballard and North Oldham is hardly a recipe for early success. If the Colonels can keep their poise and drive, they can contend for a playoff berth as the second half of their season is much more manageable. Oldham's best days are ahead of it; the team has its largest roster in years at 85+, and the younger classes hold a lot of promise.

 

North looks like the real deal. For a second consecutive week - and really, for the fifteenth consecutive week - the Mustangs' defense looked dominant. Take away the KOR TD and the Mustangs would have had their 7th shutout in their last 10 games (I guess the defensive unit can still make that claim....the special teams probably took some good-natured ribbing in the North locker room ...) Veteran coach Billy Martin has to be pleased at how well his offense played....they were on track for a 700+ yard night before the second half running clock hit, the subs came in, and North played it a little more conservatively.
