August 25, 201511 yr ESPN suspends Curt Schilling for offensive tweet about Muslims Tuesday morning, Red Sox World Series hero and ESPN broadcaster Curt Schilling tweeted a meme that equated Muslims to Nazis. The tweet was quickly deleted by Schilling, but not before it had been screenshotted and spread across the vast expanse of the Internet. Tuesday afternoon, ESPN released a statement in which they censured Schilling for his actions and announced his removal from coverage of the Little League World Series. "Curt's tweet was completely unacceptable, and in no way represents our company’s perspective," said ESPN. "We made that point very strongly to Curt and have removed him from his current Little League assignment pending further consideration." Whatever you think of Schilling, he is at least owed some credit for not using the "my account got hacked" defense. Through his Twitter account, Schilling appears to be apologizing to just about anyone who chooses to engage with him on the subject.
August 26, 201511 yr I find Schilling hard to take when watching a game. I loved to watch him pitch (especially with the Red Sox) but I feel like his preaching during games is a bit much. On this, his tweet is certainly defensible. What he was saying is that when the vast majority of good people let the small minority of bad people go unchecked, bad things happen. So what is so bad about that? I wish he would have just owned it after ESPN censored him instead of backing down. I would have actually respected that...
