DeSales 50 Meade County 0 (Scrimmage)

Featured Replies

Meade County is clearly not the same caliber team that they were the past two years. Desales' offense needs reps. Johnson is experienced but he is throwing to all new receivers and they clearly aren't in sync yet (3 INTs in first half).

my point exactly. I want to see desales tested against someone of their caliber. Hoping beating up on Meade county and a probable blow out this coming Friday does not get to the boys heads.
I'm hearing that the DeSales QB, Austin Davis, is some player. Sounds like he must've had a good scrimmage.

I apologize. His last name is Johnson.

"I have to say that once again, Meade has no stand-out players in the skill positions -- no one who really sparks the team to reach a higher level. This is the case year after year"....I guess you didn't watch the games last year..

Its not about number of seniors graduating it the number of seniors graduating that started. Meade this year has 2 returners on defense (One of those was not a starter last year) and the other is ok. Meade, I think had 2 on offense.. maybe 3. That's not to take anything away from Desales.

Colts look like they are already prepping for playoffs. defense is crazy good.

Sure I did. Great year for an over-achieving team -- that lacked a few awesome players in the skilled positions. Had Wilson been a better, more effective passer - and if Meade had a few speedier receivers - they might have won it all (well, you never know... :) ).

Meade had a lot of heart and some big boys, but was too predictable in the veer and thus too easy to contain. Some game breakers with some inventive play calling at the right moment could have possibly broken up the defensive cartel experienced against Trinity for instance. But to have that leverage, you must have some marquis players.

Therefore, IMO a one-dimensional running team in 6A I fear can not compete against the likes of Trinity, Male, X, John Hardin (they were down last year, ahem) for examples, who all run more sophisticated offenses and generally have more/better athletes in the skill areas.

To run with the top dogs, you must have a few greyhounds yourself. Otherwise, you fall back on a conservative, ball control offense that relies on running and ultimately does not exploit good skill players. Once again, IMO.

Love Meade's D though. They are tough and stubborn year in and out (er, except for the butt kicking in the final last year...).
