Yes.

Johnson Central should manhandle every team in EKY 4A at the LOS on offense and they return the vast majority of a very solid defensive team from 2014.

The issue with JC is do they have enough fast twitch muscle fibers at the skill spots outside of Bryce Workman

I don't see anyone standing in their way this year. Any team with Quinton Baker on it has a shot, but I don't think Ashland can put together four quarters of complete football against JC. The gap between the two teams was huge last year.

Bourbon Co. could be an interesting potential playoff opponent. Clay Bolin has the tools to be one of the better QB's in the state this year. Still though, I think JC will be too much for the Colonels to handle in the trenches.

The Golden Eagles shouldn't find much resistance on their way to BG. If they get that far, then it gets interesting.

I do not feel there was a huge gape in talent, but I will agree there was a huge gape in coaching abilities.

Ashland has to get over that matney hump to win the region. That said, I agree there isn't as big of a gap between the two teams as most think. For whatever reason Ashland just has a tough time with the fighting mattneys. They hung with Highlands much better than they did JC last year. Obviously Highlands was better than JC. I expect this year's game(s) to be really close between the two teams.

Haven't heard about any Paintsville transfer. Ashland and JC games past 10- 12 years for the most part have been blowouts or heartbreak for the Cats. Ashland JC will decide the District, Regional, and winner of the 2nd one will be favorite to win it all.

With all of the positive pre-season hype/buzz coming from Ashland, I expect the Tomcats to give Johnson Central a better game this year. And, for the record, I hope Ashland can close the gap on Johnson Central.

Having said that.... I still can't picture Ashland beating JC this season. I would love to see it and I'm certainly not an Ashland "hater", but JC is supposed to have a better team this year than the one that(correct me if I'm wrong) put a running clock on you guys last year. The defense that held Baker to 29yds on 10 carries returns almost completely intact.

But then again, that's why they play the games. It would be great to see the Tomcats return to state wide prominence. This should be a memorable season for football in our area. Depending on what Russell's up to that night, I might have to make my way over to Putnam Stadium to catch Ashland-JC.

It would be a tough task with what JC is returning. But like you said that's why we play the game.
