Who out there plays in stroke play tournaments?

Featured Replies

I usually play in a couple a year. I always play in the Mtn. Laurel Tournament at Pineville, and will try to play in Middlesboro's Invitational when I can. I have also considered getting into the City Championship in Lexington this year. Just curious if there were any guys out there that enjoyed playing in these tournaments and what tournaments you play in? I would always much rather play in a stroke play tourney than a scramble or two man.

I guess I'm the only one.

I am going to play in the Mtn. Laurel Festival Tournament at Wasioto Winds and also plan on playing in the Lexington City Championship in July. I have never played in a four day tournament like that one and am curious to play in it. I will also consider anymore I hear about, so if anyone knows of any, please let me know.

I am not a golfer, but my husband and son are. Some of the golf tourneys they are in every year are: Memorial at Winchester Country Club, Beach Fork, in Powell Co. , Estill Co, and Hickory Hills.

Gold,

I'm not sure, but some of the members at Beattyville Country Club told me they thought they were going to have their invitation this year. Last year was the first time they hadn't held it since it first started in 1976. I know your husband and son always played in it, so they may want to check it out. I hope they continue it.

Tell your husband to call Wasiota Winds in Pineville and get some info on their tournament. I'm sure if he enjoys the game as much as he did the times I've played with him, he will like this tournament. It's this weekend and is part of the Mountain Laurel Festival. It's a beautiful state park course. Great prizes too (Callaway irons, Calloway driver, bag, Odyssey 2 ball putter, Calloway golf bag, umbrella). The phone # is 606-337-1066.

Thanks Professor for the info. I sure hope they have the tourney in Beattyville...the guys enjoy the golf and I really enjoy the food...best of all the tourneys.:thumb:

Hubby just left today to go to Canada fishing, this is also the weekend of our big tourney here in Winchester. son playing in that one.

One of the better stroke play tournaments around central KY is the Gate City at Mt. Sterling CC. It is a three day event (Fri-Sun) sometime around the 2nd weekend of August. Great field on a difficult course.

I will be playing in that this year along with the Cynthiana CC Invit. and the Jim Griffin Invit @ Pendleton CC.
