Britain Trying to Outlaw Encryption

Featured Replies

Scary no matter which side wins out.

This would be practically impossible to enforce. Those who are intent on using encryption for illegal means won't care if it is illegal, they'll still use it.

How do you stop older versions of software to be used by those individuals once back doors are provided for newer versions? You can't.

As usual, actions like this will only affect law abiding citizens. Those who are simply trying to protect themselves from hackers and identity thieves. Most people, who know little or nothing about the encryption software they are using, will find themselves left wide open to the "back doors" provided by the manufacturers to the governments of the world.

Hackers will find them and unscrupulous government officials will provide them. You can bank on it.

Everything that's happening in the world right now feels like scenes from Live Free or Die Hard...or Revelations.
