What does Shelby Valley need to do to improve in 2015? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Wildcats return the house including essentially their entire backfield that accounted for over 4000 yards.

 

Shelby Valley will be the team to beat in their Region... the big question that remains is can they close the gap on NewCath? Valley has a big, strong Oline and some tough backs..but they are not a very fast team. NewCath really exposed them in the Semi's.

 

If Valley wants to take it to the next level and be viewed as a Championship Contender in 2A they first and foremost have to sure up their defense and limit two-way players. SV will be able to move the ball on nearly anyone they face offensively and should have enough firepower to score at least a TD or Two.

 

To their credit they have also attempted to upgrade their schedule a little. They play Franklin County to kickoff the season and then Pike Central in the Pike County Bowl. By contrast they opened with Paris and East Ridge in 2014.

 

Valley is one of the more interesting storylines in 2A entering the season. Despite their ultra successful 2014 and Semi-Finals appearance they are still flying a bit under the radar despite bringing back probably more starters than any other team in their class.

I've known Eric Ratliff for a long time now. I firmly believe Shelby Valley will be a hair away from going to BG. Losing to NewCath @ NewCath will be a tough loss for this group of Wildcats.

They need to develop some sort of passing attack. It does not have to be great but it has to be enough to keep the defense from stacking the line. Special teams will have to be good ......not average when you get deeper in the playoffs.
