Yea, I'm hoping the 90 minute finale can tie the whole mess together

So did anyone else make it through? I think ultimately the main problem with this season may have been too many characters, and more importantly, too many forgettable characters. There were people who'd show up that I couldn't remember who the heck they were and why they mattered. And speaking of why things mattered, there were story elements that were introduced that ultimately proved to be utterly meaningless.

You have to wonder if this killed any chance of a future season of the show for them. I'm not saying it was unwatchable, and a lot of the problem with it was it simply didn't live up to the first season. But it was ultimately a mess of storytelling, and I'm afraid they'll simply give up on the premise now.

Season 2 outsmarted itself. I watched every episode. It was okay. Way too confusing, and as Dragonfire said, way too many forgettable characters. Each time a new face appeared, my wife & I both asked if we were supposed to know who it was.

Yeah I agree completely. Although I believe the ratings were great and HBO has said if the creator wants to do more, they're in.

Hopefully he learned some lessons from this season. This season was OK, but too confusing

They finally gave a little insight into how the bartender with the scarred face knew Vince Vaughn (Frank) & Colin Farrel (Ray), but I thought they did a very poor job with that.

The girl playing the music in the bar was intentionally awful, but never had any role in the story. I thought the bar itself might have had some meaning, but there it was never really developed.

The best part of the show was the intro song.

One classic line: "That's one off the bucket list. A Mexican standoff with actual Mexicans."

There were a few good lines.

I actually liked Vince Vaughn in this season. Farrell was great too.

Finally caught up. I wanted to like this season so badly but just couldn't. There might've been a decent story in there somewhere. It had none of the mystery (other than its incomprehensible plot) or otherworldly intrigue of season one.

The acting was good though. I'm frustrated Rachel McAdams' effort was wasted this season. But I would watch a third season in hopes Pizzolatto can find the sweet spot again. They might struggle finding this caliber cast again.
