2 family's with very similar situations are delivered a briefcase each with 100,000 dollars in it.

1st one person off each couple decides how much of it they will keep or give to the other family, after decision they get a letter about the other couple describing them and a text that make the other person decide how much they want to keep or give. They make these decisions alone.

2nd then they get a last text that takes them to the other family's house. They get the last text that tells them to make their final decision because they are meeting the family face to face.

3rd when they meet neither couple knew the other one had a breifcase as well. It was very emotional

Last night both couples chose to give the other couple the 100,000 dollars not knowing that the other couple had the same scenario. Both got 100,000 it was pretty good. Was interesting to see how the couples differed, and changed throughout the process.

so the decision is whether or not to keep the $100,000 or give it to another family. You could keep whatever you wanted 20,000 for example and they would get $80,000.

One of the couples started wanting it all, the husband chose to give it all, then the wife decided to keep it all, after the home visit to the other family, they decided to give it all, was a roller coaster ride for sure. Both chose to not take care of their family's and trust me both needed it considerable.

Have not seen the "Box" I will have to check it out

"The Box", is that the movie in which a person is awarded $1M; however if they accept it, then someone they don't know and will never meet must die?

I don't understand why they didn't at least keep some of it? You have a $100,000 lottery ticket. Are you giving it away for no reason?

Agreed. If I'm in a situation of financial hardship, there's no chance I'm giving away any of it. Sorry, but bettering my and my family's situation comes first.

Even if I'm not in financial hardship I am looking out for my family first. That doesn't mean I would keep it all but I don't really get it. Do they have some kind of back story about the other family needing the money? If not you have no idea if you are giving the money to a family that really needs it more than you.

I believe they give them information about the other family, but I still don't care. I'm not giving away money that could get my family out of a dicey financial situation, regardless of another family's needs.

That would be it. Wasn't a great movie, but this reminded me of it.

Starring Cameron Diaz.

The first time they are not told anything about the other family, the second time they get told about everything such as financial situation, family size...one family was 80,000 in debt, no medical insurance, jobless because of health condition, 3 girls, small home, wife worked part time. Ran an ice cream business that failed..etc

The last time they actually go to the other family's home and witness everything about them.

You guys have made great points, the same ones that both family's struggled with. The man in the other family was a war veteran, loss of leg, lived in apartment with wife and son, wife pregnant and expecting, 90,000 in debt. Over 20 suregeries on his leg.

When both families saw the others living condtion it really changed the game.
