Corbin 2015

Featured Replies

What does Corbin need to do to improve in 2015? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Corbin will have to replace 7 offensive starters that accounted for about 90% of their offensive production last year. They also lost 6 starters on the defensive side of the ball, but do return their top 4 DL.

Losing this many starters may force Coach Haddix to play some kids on both sides of the ball this year, although he would prefer to 2 platoon like he did last year.

Corbin also has around 90 kids to choose from. Plus a QB that transferred in from Wlliamsburg.

Sizemore was the backup QB last year for Corbin and is the frontrunner for the job this year, although from what I have heard, the competition for the QB spot is pretty stiff.

Corbin won't dress 90 kids, 75-80 may be realistic.

But he was a transfer from Williamsburg still.

80 kids might as well be 90 kids.

Corbin has an absolute ton of talent in their Freshman and Sophomore ranks..enough talent that I could see them get to the Finals within the next 4 years.

With that said, this year and possibly next year there is a 1000 pound gorilla on the Eastern side of that bracket they would have to defeat in the Semi's.

I think Corbin and Bell have about an equal shot of winning their region and reaching the State Semi's..but I don't see either having the firepower to threaten Belfry in 2015.

I expect big things out of Corbin in the coming years though and think they have a tremendous Head Coach and one of the best young names in the State of Kentucky.

I wasn't disputing that he transferred from Wiliamsburg, but he lives in the Corbin school district and has his entire life. He just took a roundabout way of coming home.

Corbin' schedule

Whitley Co.- away

Waggener - home

Clay Co. - away

Mayfield - at Lindsey Wilson

Danville - home

Southwestern - away

Jackson Co. - away

Bell Co. - away

Casey Co. - home

I have to agree with you on the above statement. Is there anyone in the East side of the bracket that appears to be a legitimate threat to Belfry next year?

Russell will have a very good team. They return I think 7 or 8 starters from their Semi-Finals team. With that said the gap between Belfry and Russell was pretty wide last year. I think Russell closes the gap some, but not sure they will have enough fast twitch fibers to beat Belfry. I think Russell and Bell actually were two very similar teams last year and the same will be said for 2015. Big, strong, tough nosed, fundamentally sound.... but not a whole lot of dynamite.

Lawrence County gave Belfry some issues last year and return the two players who actually had some success hurting Belfry's defense. Lawrence simply didn't have enough depth and conditioning up front to hang with Belfry for 4 full Quarters.

I think Russell is probably going to be the best team in the East not named Belfry by a slim margin over Corbin/Bell/Lawrence County.

I think Corbin has the most upside of the group. I could see Corbin taking some lumps early but getting hot come November.

To lose as much as Corbin lost last year and still be loaded sounds crazy, but I think that is exactly how it will play out. I honestly see Corbin being a bigger threat in year 2 of the Haddix regime, than last year. The record may not reflect as much, but the competition is much tougher.

The 90-100 kids may not be too far off. Corbin had 68 kids out for Spring ball. That was grades 10-12 and didn't include baseball, track, or the absolutely huge 8th grade class coming up. That came from the coach himself. There will be some attrition as there always is over the summer, but seeing a 90-95 man Corbin roster is absolutely possible, if not likely this fall. That is unreal for 3A ball.

Haddix has worked the hallways at Corbin hard, and has been trying to lure a couple of really good athletes from another sport into playing football again.

Mayfield - at Lindsey Wilson

Danville - home

Southwestern - away

You sure Corbin is playing Clay County? Cov. Holy Cross seems to think they are playing Clay County in that Appalachian Bowl 9/4

Corbin 2015

8/21 A Whitley County

8/28 H Waggener (Cumberland Falls Pigskin CLassic)

9/4 OPEN?

9/11 H Danville

9/18 H Southwestern (Pulaski)

9/25 A Mayfield

10/2 A Jackson County

10/9 OPEN?

10/16 A Bell County

10/23 H Casey County

10/30 H Knox Central

Mixed bag schedule

Love the Mayfield and Southwestern games.

Knox Central is fine and schedule worthy.

Bell, as expected, is the only District Game to keep an eye on.

The Whitley County, Waggener, and (painful to say) Danville games though I am not sure will do much to prepare the Redhounds to compete against the top tier of 3A.
