  1. Corbin's linebackers may be small, but they are phenomenal, especially on the outside. The Sims kid has been a terror and Justin Davis at DE has also been causing fits for teams. What they lack in size on D, they make up for in heart, skill, and positioning.
  2. As an avid Redhound fan, nothing would please me more than seeing that #1 next to Corbin in the polls. However, the only poll which matters it the one at the end of the year. While Corbin is a phenomenal team with one of the better defenses that I've seen in a while, there is no denying that Belfry is the prohibitive favorite when it comes to 3A football in Kentucky. You can flip flop the rankings all you want, but Belfry has already proven their worth. I do think that Corbin is the clear #2, but it will take a performance of epic proportions for Corbin to beat them. Plus, there is no guarantee of that matchup ever happening. That being said, anything can happen. In 1996, Breathitt County was 1 and Corbin was 2. Breathitt won the title that year but I will forever say that Corbin was the best 2A team in the state. Unfortunately, Corbin got upset by a Madison Southern team that they destroyed just a few weeks prior in the second round preventing that Breathitt showdown from ever happening.
  3. To lose as much as Corbin lost last year and still be loaded sounds crazy, but I think that is exactly how it will play out. I honestly see Corbin being a bigger threat in year 2 of the Haddix regime, than last year. The record may not reflect as much, but the competition is much tougher. The 90-100 kids may not be too far off. Corbin had 68 kids out for Spring ball. That was grades 10-12 and didn't include baseball, track, or the absolutely huge 8th grade class coming up. That came from the coach himself. There will be some attrition as there always is over the summer, but seeing a 90-95 man Corbin roster is absolutely possible, if not likely this fall. That is unreal for 3A ball.
  4. Corbin is much bigger, stronger, and has more depth with nearly 80 players but Central has better athletes. It depends on who wants it more. I think that Corbin's D will be the deciding factor. Corbin 21 Central 14
  5. I definitely agree that Belfry's win over Southwestern was more impressive but you have to also factor in a few things. While both were early in the season, Corbin's win over them was game 2. This is only a week or two before Belfry but the Redhounds have been progressively getting better and better. Corbin has put a totally new offense and defense in this season. These kids on this year's Corbin team have played a traditional smashmouth style of football and blitzed like crazy ever since they were 6 or 7 years old. This is the first year they have ever played in a spread offense and zone D with limited blitzing. Having 70-80 players and an abundance of talent is very nice and makes the transition easier, but the way they have caught on this year has been nothing short of amazing.
  6. Is Corbin really as dominant as people are saying? I've heard from people not from Corbin say that this is one of the best Middle School teams that they have ever seen? I watched their two games from this weekend online and was blown away with how good they are. I do know that there isn't a team on their level this year. Wow! Congrats to the Hounds.
  7. I'm a little iffy on Frazier but am willing to listen. I know he did well at Middlesboro last year but I am still remembering how he underachieved at Cumberland High in the early-mid 90's. Of course he was very young then so that can be expected. Basically, is he cut out for a big time job or would he be better served as being an assistant.
  8. There are a lot of good candidates but I think that right now, I'm for Tommy Reid. He's an outsider but has been close enough to the program to know what Corbin is all about. Plus he's younger, married a local, and would be here for the long haul. Of course I would also be fine with Mike Jackson or Duncum.
