• Getslow — Are you or are you not in favor of "waiving the third miracle," as Father Guido Sarducci so eloquently put it some 35+ years ago? I'll leave it up to you and everybody else to look it up and figure out the humor behind my post, for those who didn't recognize it immediately.

 

That was actually a typo on my part. Mother Teresa was a member of the Sisters of Loreto, and not the Sisters of Loretto as I had typed it in the original post. They are two separate congregations.

 

The Sisters of Loretto date back to the early 1800s and have their motherhouse located in Marion County, KY. They are a congregation devoted specifically to Catholic education.

 

The Sisters of Loreto (which Mother Teresa was originally a member of) is traced back to a sister who lived in the 15-1600s, and their motherhouse is located at the Loreto Abbey in Dublin, Ireland. They are a congregation devoted to both Catholic education and to shelters established in order to care for the sick sick and abandoned children, battered and troubled women, former prostitutes, the mentally ill, refugees, individuals with AIDS, lepers, and the sick elderly.

My parents sat behind Mother Teresa on a flight from Detroit to Milwaukee. My dad stored his carry-on luggage under her seat. It contained bottles of German beer.
