Monday Severe Weather outlook

Featured Replies

As of now there seems to be a slight chance for severe storms beginning on Monday into Tuesday. It is early but we could see either a broken squall line or supercell storms. As of now the threats seem to be hail, wind and a possible tornado or more.

Updates will come as we get closer to the time period.

Lord, we've gone from rain every day straight into a dry summer. Do not pass go; do not collect spring.

Grass already getting brown. Can't believe with all the tornados out west, that we are not getting some relief or bad weather ourselves. Looks like 90's for us the next 5 days with minimal rain chances and no relief in the heat and humidity from what I can tell on the weather channel. We are hotter than Ft. Myers Florida, my old stomping grounds

I guess on the good side, I've been out every day in the hot weather and am pretty well acclimated to it.

Bring on the hail! TAC needs a new roof!

Softball field is now baking into a solid surface.

Saturday Morning update:

Isolated to severe thunderstorms will be possible Monday into Monday evening. Models are suggesting several lines of severe storms are possible parallel with the cold front. Squall lines and bowing segments will be possible. However, the conditions could become favorable for the formation of supercell storms. While the storms may weaken by Monday evening a damaging wind threat could be possible for SEKY.

I will update when information warrants it. Have a blessed Saturday.

Today some may see some widely scattered storms today some of which could become strong. It is on Monday that I'm most concerned. The chance for severe storms has increased especially for those along the I-65 corridor back towards the west. That part of Kentucky is now in the enhanced area for severe storms. This means cities of Paducah, Owensboro, Murray, Bowling Green, Louisville and the surrounding areas have a chance of seeing numerous severe storms that are more persistent and/or widespread. A few tornadoes, wind damage and 1-2" hail are possible.

From the I-65 corridor towards the east the rest of Kentucky, except for southeast Kentucky, are in the slight risk area. Scattered severe storms are possible in that area. These storms could be short lived and/or not widespread. A tornado or two are possible, wind damage, and up to 1" hail is possible. There also maybe isolated 2" hail areas.

Southeast Kentucky is in the marginal risk area. Isolated severe storms are possible with wind damage and hail up to a 1" in diameter possible. These storms could be limited in duration and coverage.

I will update later today. More than likely I will go into severe weather alert mode then. If the afternoon info continues in the same direction.

Have a blessed Sunday.

The weather channel is giving our area a 10 percent chance of rain over the next two days with temps at 90 and very little drop for the rest of the week. I guess we have gone into our summer bubble different from the rest of the state.

Sunday afternoon update:

It now looks like the timing for the possible severe storms on Monday is between 4pm-10pm EDT. for now the enhanced area has been dropped but most of the state is still in the slight risk area. The primary threat looks to be damaging winds and hail.

The area with the best chance to see these storms is still from I-65 back to the west. This includes the cities of Paducah, Owensboro, Murray, Bowling Green, Louisville.

I'll update in the morning.

We got a few drops of rain this morning, but nothing much. I could mow, but it needs a little more rain. May have to hold off until Wednesday, which is bad since I have a real busy week ahead.
