That's all I could find on him, at the moment. And yes there is more than points. I will find out his Player Rank for his class. I seen Morgan 3 times, and he didn't stick out, so all I could do is look up points, and rebounds. I'm just happy to here another name. Most Athletic , not close, most potential ? How tall is he ?, and being strong helps ,but only so much in Basketball. I like seeing kids do well , I don't like when people just post and post about them,. And not any body else on team.

Player rankings don't always matter. Steph Curry was unranked as a HS senior. Prater doesn't play AAU ball. Rankings posted online usually incorporate a lot of AAU exposure and publicity, along with camp exposure. Being unranked or unknown does not in anyway diminish Prater's abilities or potential.

People's idea of athletic differs. It's not how many sports you play. He's about 6' right now. Still growing. Being strong, helps immensely in all positions on the court. Don't even argue about that one.

Who would you consider the best Freshmen?

Gage Hughes, Class rank top 10, all region team. And was on a ranking site, 1st team all state Freshmen team. All district team, for 2nd time.

Player rankings don't mean anything. Just because it's on the Internet, he thinks it has to be true. He might be a French model.

I respectfully disagree. I saw Hughes play at least 5 times. He can shoot the lights out, that's obvious, but IMO Prater is a more rounded player. Overall the better freshman.

I don't recall seeing Hughes on the Regional tourney team (was he maybe just honorable

Mention?)

Prater was on the regional tourney team. Prater was All-District as well, and I believe most said 62nd was the best district in the region this year. Two teams made regional final. First time in a long time that had happened.

I don't have a lot of faith personally in ranking sites. I've seen so many AAU kids ranked high. And when I've seen them play they're disappointing.

As for your all state freshman team, without knowing where that came from I can't comment on its validity. There are dozens of all state teams put out by various newspapers, scouting services, etc. A lot of that is just daddy calling a cronie and asking for little Johnny to be placed on it.

Hughes can play. Top five freshman in the region without a doubt. And probably has the best kicks east of Lexington.

OK , hes strong. 6'0 what weight ? and why doesn't he play AAU? And I would say , most people would too , that a kid who can play more sports at a really high level is more Athletic. But yes people look at it different. And if your the best Freshman in the Region. People and Ranking site's would Know who you are.

Gage Hughes has potential to be a great player, but he doesn't do anything other than score points. I would rather have have Michael Prater. He defends & rebounds well for his size.

6'0" 185-190 (me guessing of course, it's hard to gauge, he's solid as a rock). He played multiple sports until a couple years ago he decided to focus on basketball. As for why he doesn't play AAU, I don't know. That's for a kid and his family to decide. It doesn't distract from his abilities. He is a honor student who loves the outdoors. Maybe he doesn't want to.

I don't blame him for not playing other sports in Morgan Co. Football team is so undersized injury is highly likely. And as I'm sure you know our baseball team is lackluster

I agree with that statement. If I were choosing on the playground between the two, I'd take Prater.

The more you win in tournament , the more player your team gets. doesn't mean they are the best players in tournament. Greenup got 1 Jair Jackson. But all region regular season team, yes gage was on it. Does he guard the other teams best guard ? I seen his rebounds 1 here and there, Gage get 3 to 4 a game. And when Greenup plays man Gage will guard , the best guard . This is also Gage's 2nd sport. I really don't think teams game plan for Prater/. I really hate you had to start this debate, you could have talked about him some, and that would have been great. But you had to add he's the best Fr ,in region. should have stopped.

And really top 5, come on. know wonder you think ranking sites or off, I don't think you know ,what a good player looks like.

Who determines regular season regional team? I've never seen that? I've seen ADI all area team, was Hughes on that?

I know this is Hughes' second sport. Not relevant to this discussion. I know nothing about 16th region baseball.

Prater often guarded other teams best guard. Sometimes Perry. Sometimes Redparth. Every team was different.

I'm not sure if other teams game plan for Prater. I do know that Morgan didn't game plan for Hughes. Did just fine both times.

I don't understand. You don't think Hughes is in top 5 freshman in region?

The only game I can find head to head stats for Hughes and Prater is the Dec 30 game.

Hughes had 17 Pts. 35FG% 0 Rebs.

Prater had 13pts 100Fg% 1 reb.

Hughes outscored. Prater was more efficient.

And as I said. A lot of qualities can't be quantified.

#1- we have no idea on assists, steals, turnovers. Greenup doesn't even have FG% FT% listed for their players

#2-intangibles aren't statted, dives for loose balls, guts, grit, confidence, leadership, how effective a defender the player is

#3-potential for growth

We aren't going to agree on this. Let it go.

I did last 20 games on Khsaa web sit.Hughes had 17and 1 in 1st game ,and 23and 2 in 2nd game... I took last 20 games for each , Rebounds, prater 56- avg 2.8 a game. Hughes 61 - 3.05 Avg a game. So prater does rebound .

I agree with that statement. If I were choosing on the playground between the two, I'd take Prater.

so Morgan didn't game plan for Hughes , lol You have no clue. SO points by a lot and rebounds are close, What else is there you want to be wrong at. I know for sure perry or Redparth dint guard Hughes, so somebody got a few points put on them.

You think you know what Morgan Co's game plan was? Really??? You are the one with no clue.

Perry and Redparth combined for 47 first game and 44 second game. If Hughes guards the others team best player by your own statement he was obviously guarding one of those two. So looks like he got quite a few points rammed down his throat as well.

Greenup play;s zone. not man-man. so not true again. IF you haven't herd , the Coach at Greenup is really bad. Lost a lot of game's they should have won

I apologize. I don't remember Greenup playing defense.

So none of those shots came from Hughes' area of the zone? He wasn't ever beaten off the dribble? Or shot over?
