We changed our plans and are going to Atlanta now instead.

KY Select 17U went 3-2 for the weekend but gave EG10 everything they could handle in tourney play before losing by 3 to the eventual finalist team. EG10 has some D1 athletes on their team but KY Select never backed down one bit and was down by 1 with :22 to go and missed a 3 at buzzer by Adam Goetz that rimmed out to tie the game. Great effort the entire weekend by this NKY Team despite being out-manned in every game athletically and by size.

 

Great tourney overall with some strong teams in play.

EG10 won 17U; Manimal finished 2nd

Team vision went 3-2 in their first tournament together. Had some key wins, however eventually lost to a sharp shooting Grassroot Blue team

NKY Tar Heels 3rd grade team lost in Finals to Ky STate Champs ( D2) Kings team... This 3rd grade Team is much improved and reached Finals in their last 3 Tournaments. 6 Kids that played their hearts out .... Will be a force in the future as they rise through the ranks...

I actually saw this on the results page. I cannot believe there were only four teams entered in the third grade division and then only three participated in bracket play. Not to knock the Tar Heels finish, but I would expect a larger turnout for a 4 game guarantee tournament that ran all weekend and into Monday. Is this pretty common this time of year at this age?

Yes, unfortunately there were only 4 teams in this age division of this tournament and we have seen this in the last few tournaments that we have played in. But it is a good measuring stick to show how well we have improved since early in the year. That Kings team that beat us in Louisville was the STate Champion D-2 and have 4 4th graders on the team ( this tournament allowed this) and we hung with them both times. We also played the DReamchasers team and beat them by 25 in the Semi's. That team would have beat us by 20 early in the year. Kids are improving and we also picked up a good player from another team and are looking to pickup 1-2 additional players before we take these boys to Nationals...
