Belfry Football 1949-2005

When I was a substitute teacher at Boyle in the late 80's it was shocking ...

...to the kids!

:D

I love old records and seeing how other schools have done in the past, good job getting these. I'm also doing this for Rockcastle County currently, no records exist from 1972-1984, I have found many on microfilm and still searching. I think this is something that is very important to a program because of the history and tradition it can showcase to the younger generations at the same time making the older ones proud.

I have posted the Lincoln County-Rockcaslte County series history a few times but if you need those scores from 1974-1984, PM me.

Toots...

I have records of the P-burg/Belfry matchups from the '20's to the '40's. I'll send what I have soon...

Thanks, OIJ, that would be great. I'll pm you my email address.

oops...

I sent you until '45... I'll amend what I sent to include '46-'48.

I'd be willing to guess that the UK Library, where they keep their microfilms, would be just what you're looking for. It would really surprise me if they didn't keep newspapers from other towns on microfilm there! You just might hit the jackpot there, Watusi! But make sure you call them first to confirm...I'd hate to see a trip wasted because you came up empty.

By the way, I like the fact that you're not giving up on researching Belfry's history...it's very well worth the effort! It's also a very important part of community history, and the librarians at the KY Library at WKU agreed! If Belfry is part of the exclusive 500 Win Club, it needs to be acknowledged!:D

I have personally done five: BGHS (1922-present), Warren Central (1968-present), Warren East (1969-present), Greenwood (1990-present), and Franklin-Simpson (1944-present). I haven't been able to update bgpurples.com yet, but I'm trying to get fscat to help me to do that! Which reminds me, fswildcats.com has a bunch of my research efforts on it too!:D

Somebody should start a research service. It was easy when I was in college and could spend a few hours at a time looking through microfilm but now I don't have the easy access nor the time to find the articles.

I have certain schools that I want to research and I would be willing to pay somebody to shoot the articles for me. I have tried to hire high school kids to do it at the local library but it never works out.

If anybody wants to do it, I will make a deal with them.
