Michael Bush on his 4.91-second 40: There goes my career

I agree. It doesn't matter how slow you are if the defenders can't tackle you once they meet you.

Except in this case there are 6 years of film of guys having very little trouble tackling him, too.

He has represented Louisville and the state well for a lot of years at Male, UL, and the NFL, and if it is over for him professionally, I'm sure he'll go on to be a great success in life. Good luck to him.

Evidently it was "hand timed" as well what I heard on the radio yesterday. The guys talking said you could easily shave off 2/10 of a second for that. If that's the case, that puts him down to a 4.71 and as someone mentioned above, it's not like he has trained for months for that moment so he could probably do better than that.

Actually ... from hand timing to Fully Automatic ... the common conversion is PLUS .24 (that is what every state uses in track and field anyway). So the reality is ... if it was hand timed ... more like 5.14

Hand timing is notorious for being faster than FAT.

The other thought here ... it surprises the heck out of me that any type of combined associated with the NFL would not be FAT or Laser timed. My only conclusion there ... is that they really don't care too much about 40 times. They could have found a high school coach to set up a FAT or Laser system for a couple hundred bucks for a day.

At the end of the day ... if they think you can still play ... they will get a shot. Even if it takes a calendar to time the player in the 40.

Thanks slick and I think you are spot on.

What was the Bus running his last couple of seasons? A 5.4? Good vision, and different job description added years to his career.
